Like many Americans, my friend is eager to voice his opinion at the polls in November. It is crucial that we talk to people about this election, and consider everybody we know. For those of us in Northern Virginia, we know that new arrivals to our communities are common. We have an opportunity to get more votes as Virginia continues to turn blue. Perhaps it was the success of Mark Warner that has made Virginia so livable as to attract more and more progressive-minded individuals to reside here. In fact, out-of-staters have moved throughout the Commonwealth, East, West, North and South.
Think about it, if you had just moved to Virginia, would you really want to be represented by George Allen? Granted, George Allen probably understands out-of-state transplants. I mean, he grew up in Southern California. He knows how hard it is to move to a strange place and try and co-opt its values. For some reason, George Allen mistakenly thinks that Virginia is full of bigots and right-wing Christian conservatives. However, can you fault and out-of-stater for saying +óGé¼+ôWelcome to America+óGé¼-¥ to an Indian-American born and raised in Virginia? How was he supposed to know? Perhaps Jim Webb is being too hard on ol+óGé¼Gäó George Felix when he claims personal insult that George Allen assumed such horrible things about his kin in Southwestern Virginia.
Anyway, back to my point. I am proud to say that I got a voter for Jim Webb by informing him of his ability to register. You can do the same. Let+óGé¼Gäós get to it!
