A couple stories on Gov. Kaine to note:

- "Governor Tim Kaine Opens America's First IPv6 Training Center" in Herndon

- "Virginia+óGé¼Gäós Governor wants to foster teleworking"

Picking up where Mark Warner left off...

I'm not sure that short of the real nerds and computer Geeks (Jim Southworth - 9/16/2006 9:06:58 PM)
that most people will understand the significance of IPv6 or what it even really is.... the definition in the article is a good start, BUT.....

This in fact shows that Tim (or someone on his staff) "Gets It !!" and with the conversion from the old  addressing scheme of IPv4 (which the existing Internet uses), IPv6 brings a means and tools to control or eventually eliminate SPAM, Virus infections, and anonymous denial of service attacks. But it also brings built-in "quality or service" capabilities to allow for the prioritizing video and voice over normal best efforts data as well as some new security capabilities.  So the significance of Virginia being probably the first state level government to make this jump and reinforces the leadership in technology that Warner and now Kaine have brought us. OBTW, the federal government is already into a full scale conversion to IPv6 and has given an absolute mandate to all its agencies and the Department of Defense to get up on IPv6... Now !!  Several DoD groups are there now and the rest should be there by 2007 or 2008.

Even the second announcement on teleworking goes a long way toward helping to circumvent the transportation problems and grid-lock that the Republican House of Delegates has shoved down our collective throats.

Kudos Tim, man am I glad we got you instead of Kilgore!!!!!!  and yes this is my real name ļ
