Democrat for Allen

Though I may appear to be on the right end of the political spectrum in this particular blog, I thought it pertinent to tell you, the liberal supporters of Jim Webb, why I, a liberal progressive Virginian, am voting for Senator Allen in November.
I do so because I see a lot of liberal-bashing+óGé¼Gäó occurring both on these blogs and also at the occasional Allen campaign events that I have been attending. Please don't write us off by painting us with the same blue as you would Mr. Webb. Our +óGé¼-£side,+óGé¼Gäó after all is not evil. We all want the best for this country, and though our differences may be stark in some areas, I think Senator Allen has a lot to offer disillusioned voters on my side of the divide:
Seventeen decades and four years ago this November the people of the United States of America resoundingly voted in favor of re-electing President Andrew Jackson and his conservative Democratic ideals. Jackson's platform was so popular that it even carried such traditionally Whig leaning states as Illinois and Ohio. As a political moderate here in Virginia, I am one who has always been attracted to the theory of government espoused by President Jackson and those Democrats who followed in his ideological footsteps. Although I don+óGé¼Gäót agree with everything the liberal progressive agenda has to offer, I do cherish many of the ideals of the Jackson Democratic platform, that which embraces smaller government, honesty, individualism, entrepreneurship, fiscal accountability, and a foreign policy based in realism. Democrats now in charge of this commonwealth have gotten to where they are today by standing on the backs of giants like Jefferson and Wilson. I have a sinking feeling that if those men saw what has happened to their party today, they would seriously reconsider their affiliation. I know I am.

Nowhere is this concern more pronounced than in the Senate battle happening right now in my home state of Virginia. The election pits my conservative Republican representative, Senator George Allen, against the more liberal Democrat, former 10-month Secretary James Webb.

I have supported the likes of James Webb and his fellow Democrats in the past, not because of Webb's supposed 'downtrodden' Southwest Virginia roots (I am not so na+â-»ve as to believe that no politician attempts to cultivate an image suitable for his/her constituency) or even for his supposed strength on national security (to question the patriotism and the desire of those leaders who don't happen to be veterans, to me, reprehensible). No, I have supported James Webb and other Democrats because that party+óGé¼Gäós ideals and goals aligned with my own. Yet, unfortunately that consistency is no longer evident. Though I do not think that this is a nation-wide phenomenon (men like Senator Chuckie Schumer, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, among others continue to carry the banner of McGovern-esque liberalism), I do think that it comes as a result of a furiously partisan political climate that has been ushered into existence by a Kaine administration that sows fear and discord in order to win elections.

What this administration has failed to recognize is that winning elections is not the goal of politics. Governing is. And in order to govern effectively, a political party needs to stick to its platform, its goals, and its ideals. One who truly wishes to govern cannot do so by sacrificing those principles in order to simply win elections. To me, the Kaine administration and the Democrat party of James Webb have done just that.

What once stood for fiscal accountability, the ethical high ground, smaller government, and a realistic foreign policy, the Democrat Party has truly lost its way. One hundred and seventy-four years after President Jackson won re-election and the hearts of the American people by an overwhelming margin, the Democratic ideal is gone, and I am beginning to understand why George Allen is the most popular governor in modern Virginia times. I think I+óGé¼Gäóll vote for him.

You forget that commensts are saved in RK. (phriendlyjaime - 9/14/2006 9:19:01 PM)
You are also a Republican for Allen.  Are you even kidding us with this waste of time diary?

This should be removed.  It's completely fabricated, and undeniably tells the truth about the aythor.

This is an outrage!!  (0.00 / 0)
This is an outrage!!  I agree with Brave Hart 100%.  Every American should be permitted to get involved in politics -- it's their constitutional right.  Except for local registrars, of course.  They're not allowed!  How dare Mrs. Kilgore think she actually the same constitutional rights as everyone else?!?!

Why do the words  (0.00 / 0)
Why do the words “Kaine won†not come out of their supposedly objective mouths?

Simple.  Because Kaine didn't win.  People in love with that eyebrow are the only ones who don't know it.

By the way, what is an "ad hominum"?

Warner is "the most popular governor in modern Virginia times"... (Loudoun County Dem - 9/14/2006 9:34:37 PM)
...judging by the way he writes in this diary and his comments, I'm guessing that Joe Blanton is a high school repub wannabe (think Jack Black in Bob Roberts).

REMOVE.. (drmontoya - 9/14/2006 10:07:43 PM)
this post lowell, let's start "cleaning house".

Leave it (Eric - 9/15/2006 8:50:19 AM)
The simple view is that a Republican tried to slip in a false Democratic endorsement of Allen by using Allen talking points.

That may be the case, but I'd bet this is more of the same bullying and mocking displayed by their leader, George Allen.  They didn't like that a Republican had the nerve to support Webb so they're making fun of him.

So it should be left - for all to see the mocking and deceitful tactics used by the Allen team.

Were you also a Democrat for Kilgore? (DanG - 9/15/2006 12:05:07 AM)
Because if you were, let me give you a hint buddy:

You're a Republican.

It's really *too bad* (libra - 9/15/2006 12:40:46 AM)
I didn't catch this "diary" earlier; I'd have had a whale of a time dissecting it, a sentence-by-lying-sentence... But it's 1AM and even non-working housewives have to take a break from politicking sometimes :)

One of the things worth checking, maybe... The length of the posting, the measured cadences, etc... It almost sounds like the obverse of the VA for Ike posting, just taking a POV we would not like... Could be someone's having fun at our expense (taking a Mickey, pulling a leg, etc)

RE: Joe Blanton, Lightweight (JPTERP - 9/15/2006 2:31:14 AM)
It must be scary living in a 19th century cave in the 21st century.

My favorite part is how a George Allen supporter has to steal someone else's writing. Call this parody, poorly executed.  Or simply file this under changing "will" to "shall".  Like attacts like.
