Lowell Feld is Netroots Coordinator for the Jim Webb for US Senate Campaign. The ideas expressed here belong to Lowell Feld alone, and do not necessarily represent those of Jim Webb, his advisors, staff, or supporters.
On top of which, it reminds the "yellow dog Democrats" of "certain age" (like my DH)just why they didn't vote for Jim in the primaries -- because he was a secretetary for a "wrong" president. He'll vote for Jim in general elections, but he's still steaming through both nostrils about "Ketchup is a vegetable" Reagan, and Jim's connection to same. It's taken him *ages* to get around to thinking "real combat boots are way more credible than fake cowboy ones", and he's an ex-Marine himself...
Do yourselves a favour... *Weigh* the up and down sides before trying to add gravitas to a political-newcomer candidate by dragging in his past (and best forgotten) honors and functions. Mention it in general releases (if less prominently), because it does bear on his experience. But, otherwise... It's enough that he knows what he's talking about, that he's honest and has enough personal integrity to put his money where his mouth is (like not finagling an easy posting for his son, despite personal opposition to the war in Iraq).
Jim's "for real"; it's not necessary to gild the lily here.
Notice how all the new trolls are attacking Jim's strengths.
