WAR IN IRAQ
Bush Administration got us into Iraq recklessly, against Jim Webb's early warnings (Wash Post 9/2/02). The war was a double strategic blunder: It was a diversion from the real war against international terror and it has tied down our military in a costly occupation and now an internal conflict between Sunni and Shiite, said Jim Webb in his foreign policy speech.
Versus George Allen:
Supports Bush Administration open-ended stay the course commitment in Iraq, despite the failure of the chosen course and the incredible cost to U.S. troops, Iraqi citizens and the US taxpayer. Blas+â-¬ about long-term presence in Iraq, stating we+óGé¼Gäóve been in Cuba for over 100 years.
JIM WEBB on:
LEADERSHIP
Current leaders lack the kind of strategic vision that has served our country in prior eras. "Ultra-conservatives talk about God, guns, gays, abortion and the flag to get everybody riled up" instead of "sitting down and saying, this is where it's broke and this is what we can do to fix it."
Versus George Allen:
Along with his Republican colleagues, Allen has been a rubber stamp for the Bush Administration, voting with President Bush 97% of the time. Allen has a poor record of accomplishments, said the Richmond Times Dispatch on Apr. 17, 2006.
Clearly, Jim Webb will not hesitate to do so.
