NRO on Allen, Webb, and Lowell...

Praise for Lowell from an unlikely source:
Lowell Feld, Webb's netroots guy, has done a great job keeping the "macaca" story alive.+é-á If anything, this line of attack on Allen will intensify.+é-á The story, however,+é-áis as much to build momentum with fundraising as it is to sway voter opinion.+é-á For example, authors Stephen King and John Grisham will be headlining a fundraiser for Webb in the coming weeks.+é-á One reason why the DSCC was holding back funds to Webb+é-áwas that it didn't see the Webb campaign as able to compete financially against Allen.+é-á Now that Webb seems to be raising a little bit of money on his own, the DSCC is coming in with some support.+é-á The amount of support from the DSCC, however,+é-áremains to be seen.+é-á Webb need to keep raising cash on his own, and since the "George Allen is a racist" storyline is working for Webb as a fundraising tool, the story will be kept alive as much as possible.
Of course, the conservatives at NRO will often downplay Allen's xenophobic attack of someone more Virginian than he (this is more than a "storyline"), but they are right that Lowell (along with Ben Tribbet) were key to elevating this story to its deserved place in the media.

Proof Allen is losing support (chiefsjen - 8/31/2006 9:53:56 AM)
My husband rides the metro from Franconia/Springfield every day and for awhile he's told me about the dark blue toyota matrix he sees parked there.  See, he was in the market to buy a matrix months ago and so he noticed this car. He finally got his matrix in early spring. He mentioned to me a month or so ago that an Allen sticker had sprung up on the dark blue matrix. Last night he told me that the sticker was now gone. And it's definitely the same car because it has vanity plates.

And the kicker is, the sticker was only placed on the car a few months ago, and now it's gone.

I plan to make it to the Webb/Hurst rally on Saturday, hoping we have a great turn-out.

Go Lowell! (Susan Mariner - 8/31/2006 10:08:13 AM)
Lowell deserves a lot of credit, as do Ben and others.  Nice to see them get it.

Way to Go Lowell - I told you those evil bastards could recognize talent! (David M - 8/31/2006 11:10:20 PM)
Now you're on their radarscreen. Watch out for Buckley trying to recruit you to the dark side.

DSCC (Teddy - 8/31/2006 10:12:56 AM)
It appears that the DSCC is like a bank: they won't give you the money until you prove you don't need it.

I understand the basic theory behind this policy (i.e., don't pour money down a rathole in a lost cause-- if you can't get the public to give you money, you can't get them to vote for you, so that comes first) but still, did they never hear about "priming the pump?" When I was a child my Southern grandparents had a well and you could push that well handle up and down all day and never get a drop of moisture, but when you poured a cup of water down the well pipe, and then pumped, the water gushed forth. Wake up, guys at DSCC!

I've given Webb my legal limit, and it hurt (especially in this economy) but I figure this is the last window of opportunity we'll ever have to stop some of this insanity by putting Webb in office, so let's do whatever it takes to kick butt now and forever.

Allen thinks Virginians are stupid (chiefsjen - 8/31/2006 10:31:44 AM)
Our greatest forefathers came from Virginia. I live and grew up miles down the road from Mt. Vernon. One of the things that always swelled me with pride was knowing I lived on land that George Washington, George Mason, Jefferson, etc. walked on, that I lived on land that American soldiers fought and died on to make this a great country.

Allen has soiled our great state in so many ways and it's always taken liberals/progressives to bring it back to greatness.

Webb is such a great candidate and I'm so pleased he's on our side!
