There is little doubt that Iran has been the chief beneficiary of the war on terror in the Middle East. The United States, with Coalition support, has eliminated two of Iran+óGé¼Gäós regional rival governments +óGé¼GÇ£ the Taliban in Afghanistan in November 2001 and Saddam Hussein+óGé¼Gäós regime in Iraq in April 2003 +óGé¼GÇ£ but has failed to replace either with coherent and stable political structures. The outbreak of conflict on two fronts in June+óGé¼GÇ£July 2006 between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza, and Israel and Hizbullah in Lebanon has added to the regional dimensions of this instability.Consequently, Iran has moved to fill the regional void with an apparent ease that has disturbed both regional players and the United States and its European allies...

In sum, our invasion of Iraq has NOT created a democracy in Iraq, has NOT brought Arab-Israeli peace, has NOT even brought increased access to oil. Instead, BushAllen's brilliant invasion of Iraq has brought the opposite of all of those things, PLUS the added bonus of a strengthened Iran - a country ruled by leaders who hate our guts and are pursuing nuclear weapons as fast as they can.
