Governor Tim Kaine says the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved his request for disaster assistance in northern Virginia. The request was approved for homeowners, renters and businesses flooded in late June, in the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church.
The action means they can apply for low-interest loans.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied Kaine's requests for assistance to help property owners affected by the severe weather in late June and early July.
Kaine appealed FEMA's decision in early August.
