Veterans Against Allen

Veterans for Webb
There's a reason George "Felix" Allen got a low turnout in his Veterans For Allen photo-op event with well-known maverick Senator John McCain in Norfolk the other night.

Here's why:

I know this for a FACT.

I had this conversation with Jim, and he knows for a FACT as well...

Polls and pundits aren't adequately counting the defense vote.

There are A LOT of military or prior military that have given me a word of advice for Dems: "We won't vote for any liberal, but we sure as hell will vote for Webb" --A Navy Retired Captain

"I remember Jim Webb, when he was SECNAV.. I liked him then I like him now, if Zinni endorsed him he's got my vote and I bet a lot more marines" --A retired Marine Colonel, heads a national org, and brother of a recent new Marine General.

"Jim Webb fought for us when I was an aviator on a secret mission in the gulf, he demanded the right gear for us then and I never lost respect for him. He's got my vote" -A retired Navy Captain

"I know Jim Webb quite well, I know he's got my vote. I'd have to say he's always impressed me" --Retired Naval Officer, Current Senior Defense Spokesperson

I don't want to name names here, but I know that even some Bush appointees who live in Virginia are going to vote for Jim Webb.

There's a reason it's so quiet over at the "Veterans for Allen" camp.

Because there very well may not be a "Veterans for Allen" group come November 8.

But there very well could be a "Veterans for Webb" group long after November 7.  I'll be in it, because I am one of them.

Webb needs some ads featuring his Vietnam service, his years as Reagan's Navy Secretary, and endorsements by Generals Clark and Zinni.  This would be very effective in the Hampton Roads area and would preempt any swiftboating that Allen may be planning.

It also helps to neutralize the "Hollywood Liberal" smear.

Count my step dad in (Doug Garnett-Deakin - 8/18/2006 8:04:10 AM)
Even though he was dead set against Kerry. He won't admit it anywhere else, but he really likes Webb and his message and is voting for him- Korean and Vietnam vet, 1st cav.

I love this! (RayH - 8/18/2006 11:38:03 AM)

It's refreshing to hear about a Democratic candidate addressing veteran's concerns more effectively than the Republican incumbant.

I'd like to get more side by side comparisons of Webb vs Allen from a veteran's point of view.
