By: Phil Singer, DSCCVirginia got a chance to see the real George Allen this week when he bullied a 20 year-old Webb volunteer on the campaign trail. But the fact that George Allen is a bully is no great secret: Anyone who reads his sister+óGé¼Gäós book and checks out the stories she tells would see that Allen has a long history of bullying. Here are excerpts from Jennifer Allen+óGé¼Gäós book, Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter:
Explaining why she is scared of heights, Ms. Allen writes that +óGé¼+ôEver since my brother George held me over the railing at Niagara Falls, I+óGé¼Gäóve had a fear of heights.+óGé¼-¥ [ Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 43]
Referring to George+óGé¼Gäós relationship with one of her boyfriends: +óGé¼+ôMy brother George welcomed him by slamming a pool cue against his head.+óGé¼-¥ [ Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 178]
Referring to George+óGé¼Gäós early leadership skills, Jennifer wrote: +óGé¼+ôWe all obeyed George. If we didn't, we knew he would kill us. Once, when Bruce refused to go to bed, George hurled him through a sliding glass door. Another time, when Gregory refused to go to bed, George tackled him and broke his collarbone. Another time, when I refused to go to bed, George dragged me up the stairs by my hair.+óGé¼-¥ [ Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 22]
Referring to George+óGé¼Gäós early career aspirations, Jennifer wrote +óGé¼+ôGeorge hoped someday to become a dentist. George said he saw dentistry as a perfect profession - getting paid to make people suffer.+óGé¼-¥ [ Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 22]
Referring to George+óGé¼Gäós habit of terrorizing a Green Bay Packer fan in their neighborhood, Jennifer wrote that the fan+óGé¼Gäós mailbox often +óGé¼+ôlay smashed in the street, a casualty of my brothers' drive-by to school in the morning. George would swerve his Mach II Mustang while Gregory held a baseball bat out the window to clear the mailbox off its post. . . . Lately, the Packers fan had resorted to stapling a Kleenex box to the mailbox post to receive his mail. George's red Mustang screeched up beside us, the Packers fan's Kleenex mailbox speared on the antenna.+óGé¼-¥ [ Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 16]
Amazing, you can't make this stuff up. So what's the deal with George Allen? I like the explanation by "Richmond Independent" over at Virginia Centrist:
George Allen simply lacks maturity. Often compared to a playground bully, he exhibits the same childish petulance often shown by our sitting president. Voters often confuse cockiness for strength and decisiveness. Well, it's not the same thing. Jim Webb is the adult in this election. George Allen is apparently still struggling with childhood insecurities. Picking on college undergrads is unbecoming for a man his age. Let's put an actual adult in his Senate seat.
Lowell Feld is Netroots Coordinator for the Jim Webb for US Senate Campaign. The ideas expressed here belong to Lowell Feld alone, and do not necessarily represent those of Jim Webb, his advisors, staff, or supporters.
As usual, RK is ahead of the pack
(the picture of GFA is priceless).
