Allen's link to the "mucaca" slur?

"Mucaca" apparently is a French slur based on a Tunisian monkey.
Via NLS:
Macaque
(Belgium & France) a Negro (originally) and or a person of North African origin (more recently); derived from macaque monkeys
From Britannica:
Barbary macaque - a tailless ground-dwelling monkey that lives in ... Algeria, Tunisia, [etc.]
Allen's link to these areas? His mother was French Tunisian - a French speaker emigrating to the U.S. after World War II.
So, is this Allen's link to this obscure ethnic slur?

Felix uses this derogatory term twice. He calls the Webb staffer the name once, talks about other things (including Hollywood) and the
CALLS THE STAFFER THE SAME NAME AGAIN!!!
This was no accident or spur of the moment name, this was deliberate.
He obviously heard this term growing up and thought it was obscure enough to fly under the radar as code. Repugnant.
How much French does Allen know? (thegools - 8/14/2006 6:54:13 PM)
I am guessing, at this point, he'll say he does know a bit.
All he needs to know is one word... (Rob - 8/14/2006 8:46:51 PM)
which, the video shows, he does.

I'm amused by the fact that Allen seems to occassionally present himself as bearing the heritage of many old Virginia families with ties to the 17th and 18th c. colonial settlement, the War for Independence, and the Second War for Independence (aka, the "Civil War").
Now, someone who believes himself a part of this centuries-old American experience hardly needs resort to **foreign** -- non-english words to express himself.
As for Allen being "Reaganesque" (as some neo-conised Repubs claim), Reagan may have done and said many things with which RK readers surely disagree but Reagan was not a **pastiche Americain**. Georges Allen (said with a french pronunciation)is a phony...
Phony facade (RayH - 8/15/2006 11:58:06 AM)
That is an apt description of George Allen. He has invented an identity that suits him, but is not based in reality.
