Open question for the Webb campaign on the Lieberman loss

Other than thinking that Lieberman has an ego much larger than his heart or brain, this morning, I was curious if anyone was analyzing what the financial impact of him running independent will have on close senate races like Webb+óGé¼Gäós? I can imagine right away that DSCC money that would go to Webb will now go up to what should be a Democratic spend free zone in Connecticut. I know the national level private and PAC money will be affected- Hillary+óGé¼Gäós PAC cut a $5,000 check to Lamont first thing last night- how much would that have been if Lieberman had been a true Democrat and conceded and went on to campaign for Lamont and other hopefuls like Webb?

I tried to not get too worked up about the Connecticut primary- that was a Connecticut race, up to their voters. I was ready to accept Lieberman winning even if I don+óGé¼Gäót like his politics, though I did vote for him in 2000 of course. But I feel now, with his refusal to step aside and back his party, he is affecting Virginia in a very real way and I feel I can go out and trash him like he deserves. He really strikes me as some two bit banana republic generalissimo standing on a old box shouting about how cruel the world has been to him for no good reason. Or, more appropriately, he reminds me of Baghdad Bob +óGé¼GÇ£ +óGé¼+ôWe are winning! We are winning!+óGé¼-¥

Anyway, I+óGé¼Gäód like to get some idea of the money Webb and other senate races have lost due to Lieberman+óGé¼Gäós gross ego. Thanks!

I'm not sure how you'd quantify that... (Lowell - 8/9/2006 7:55:46 AM)
BUT I'm sure it's significant. That's why it's so important now for Lieberman to PULL OUT and for Democrats to turn their attention elsewhere - to Virginia, Montana, Missouri, Ohio, Rhode Island, etc.  I urge everyone to contact Joe Lieberman and tell him to withdraw.  Right. Now.  His Senate office numbers are:

Thanks.

Lieberman is not going to pull out just  because Dems wish him too. It is pretty obvious he has been forced out of the Democratic Party, so why would he pull out just to elect other Democrats?

Why do you post here? (Doug Garnett-Deakin - 8/9/2006 10:48:29 AM)
Really, I'm just curious. It's a free country, and by goodness a free blog, I'm just wondering, what do you get out of it?

fun (hrconservative - 8/10/2006 10:31:02 AM)
Because of entertainment value. I only post when I feel like it. I read about everything up there though. I enjoy seeing what the other side is doing. It makes me smile.

On a serious note, why have a blog where no one debates you? If all you guys are doing is supporting each other, and no one comes along to question you, then I think you miss out.

Keep me laughing, everybody

Chuck Schumer, do your job! (Bubby - 8/9/2006 9:12:00 PM)
To hell with Joe, I'm calling Chuck.

What he needs to say is something akin to: "Joe, stop babbling on about being an 'independent Democrat', support the party, or I will personally participate in the welding of your legacy to George W. Bush.

This is a message that the party leadership needs to convey.  That little banty-rooster Lieberman don't listen to his folks - which is exactly why he was turned out.
