The Media pundits and Connecticut coverage...vent time

I'll make this short and sweet. The media coverage is swayed to the GOP once again in it's Conn Primary coverage. Chris Matthews is the biggest blow hard on the screen. He's calling the Dems "Gun Shy" cause he says, "they can't make up their mind on the war." Well hey dude we're thinkers unlike you and your GOP friends who seem to think it's a sign of strength to jump off a cliff in unity on Iraq with the Facist President Bush. Now how stupid is that?

And of course Sean-Anne Coulter-Hannity says,"mark my word this is the point when the extreme left wing is taking over the party, Lieberman is the last moderate the Dems have, it's over" Well Thanks Sean. We disagree with you, so I guess this means you're right--not. No Sean, if Lieberman loses it's his own fault. We aren't left wingers taking over some party, we're just people that want some accountability about this ill planned war, that you're evangelical president started, because he's on a mission from God to democratize the world and bleed the American budget while doing so. That's what's fueling us--We're tired of Bush's drewel being rammed down our throats--Hopefully this is the beginning of the Dems taking back America from people like Bush,Felix Allen,Karl Rove, Pat Robertson,Tom Delay and Tom Davis. No Mr. Hannity we aren't left wing freaks because we don't bow down to your alcoholic president, we just want some accountability of all the things that your holier-than-thou president and party have screwed up. If the media doesn't report it, than bloggers will. Look out.

Should henceforth be known as the "Ministry of Information".

This is going to reverberate deep and that is their faults, not ours.  All of Congress will get shaken.  Marvelous!!

How can we get through the MSM? (RayH - 8/9/2006 4:49:42 PM)
I wish that there could be a good way to communicate a more clearly articulated message to/through the main scream media.

Aren't you tired of the bogus claim that the media is controlled by liberals, when in fact it has been hijacked by right-wing extremists and steered far from the balanced reporting we need?

As a moderate Democrat, I resent the tired old rhetoric demonizing the "liberal left". I am outraged that so-called "conservatives" are steering our country recklessly toward bankruptcy, that they've sold out our individual liberty and right to privacy, and that they're creating an Executive Branch with such unlimited power that it can rule like a 17th century monarch.

It's possible to have a variety of opinions within our very large, very diverse Democratic party, but still maintain a general consensus that the war in Iraq has not gone well, and that we need to change our course of action there. Lieberman failed because he stuck to his position, which falls far outside the general consensus of Connecticut Democrats.

What can we do about it? I'm not sure that there's much that would be very effective, but I'm willing to try.

It is a tough thing to do... (bladerunner - 8/9/2006 8:05:54 PM)
It's a pretty know fact among people who have really studied it that the GOP really do know how to use the media much better than the Dems. If you read, and I recommend it, David Brocks, "Republican Noise Machine" you'll find out that the GOP has been working real hard at this since the 60s. They have been teaching and inserting Conservative reporters into the mainstream--basically they muddy the waters of any advantage the Dems might have, and that is usually enough. Even the Washington Post has some planted there. But the thing about the Post is they like to see a nice competitive race like Davis vs Andy Hurst (D). Especially in light of Davis influence peddeling scandal and the Andy Hurst campaign coming on like gang busters.

So the GOP gets the best of both worlds, they get the advantage of knocking the media calling it mainstream, etc, and they have there planted reporters to help them muddy the waters. You can see it in there coverage, they make Dems out to be left wing freaks without a spine. (Chris Matthews to be specific)

I think blogging is a good start for us to get out our opinions. I think the media is taking notice.

You can check out, and I recommend you do: www.mediamatters.com. A website dedicated to showing just how slanted the media is in the GOP's favor. David Brock started this.
