I am bored by Connecticut and an Open Thread

Hey, what's up? It's a bit quiet around here today, and we haven't had an open thread for a while...
I am REALLY done with Connecticut/Lieberman/Lamont threads. I know that it is an important race, but I just can't read about it anymore. Especially considering the fact that it won't even be over when the primary is over.
There is talk of the morning after pill going over the counter. But, not really over the counter, more like behind the counter, so the pharmacist can still shove her/his morals down our throats before we buy a legal commodity.
Mel Gibson is bat shit crazy.
Republicans at a vegetarian festival; I am still baffled. Kind of like seeing a W sticker on a Prius, or a Bush supporter with a brain.

Will Gibson's anti-Semitic tirade help or hurt (Lowell - 7/31/2006 5:45:19 PM)
his career? You know how they say in Hollywood that "no publicity is bad publicity."
On another note, please feel free to leave questions or comments for Delegate Bob Brink. He will be available from 2 to 3 PM tomorrow for a bit o' live blogging. Thanks.
Ha! Nothing like a few million (Eric - 7/31/2006 6:06:36 PM)
bucks to forget about a little anti-semitism. Or at least temporarily forget. Now if Mel starts losing some box office clout those memories will come back real quick.
Oh, I think it hurt. (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:08:56 PM)
Hollywood hated his Passion of the Christ fiasco; Christian righties loved it, and the Oscars are more political than our govt, so any attention Gibson garnered was simply a favor.
::GASP!!!:: (thaddaeus toad - 7/31/2006 6:52:31 PM)
Passion of the Christ? AWESOME!!!!!
I'll make the popcorn!
mmmmmmmmmm (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 7:08:35 PM)
popcorn.
Popcorn (Ben - 7/31/2006 7:19:18 PM)
Phriendly, are you making reference to the Jessica story from the primary?
wtf are you talking about? (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 7:25:02 PM)
I'm replying to Thadd, whom I believe was making fun of Mel Gibson and his crappy movie. But thanks for the troll ratings...AGAIN.
I thought you were talking about the (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 7/31/2006 7:28:25 PM)
song "Popcorn". Hooray '80s!
unlikely it was because of alcohol (teacherken - 7/31/2006 6:34:49 PM)
you may be impaired, but unless you cannot handle alcohol at all you do not lose cognitive functioning at .12
a clear demonstration of what he really believes. Not surprising given the influence his father had on him.
Yep. (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:44:06 PM)
And there is something to be said about the "truth serum."
Mel Gibson is a Douchebag (pitin - 7/31/2006 6:45:02 PM)
*WOO WOO* (alarm sound)
Someone call Ben Tribbet from Not Larry Sabato, someone called someone else a Douchebag.
Speaking of Ben: (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:58:51 PM)
Look at Ben's new graphic re: Warner.
I love the little eye/teeth twinkles, totally cute!
OTOH, that's probably one of the worst pics of Marsden I have EVER SEEN.
I was speaking of the twinkles. (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 7:12:45 PM)
Whenever I think of Mark Warner, his shiny white teeth are one of the first things that strike me. So, the little twinkles got me.
But everyone knows that I am admittedly a Gore whore, in the best sense of the phrase.
OH WAIT. (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 7:34:05 PM)
THIS is the worst pic.
I Care Even Less About Gibson Than Lieberman (RayH - 7/31/2006 6:11:19 PM)
With regard to the idea of pharmacists refusing to dispense the morning after pill, you've got to wonder how far society should bend to accomodate people's personal beliefs, particularly when they perform a public service. What if the pharmacist decides that the morning after pill is so odious that s/he's got to make it unavailable throughout the whole city? What if someone at the factory replaces the real pills with placebos?
Nail on head (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:16:39 PM)
I don't think they should be able to deny me of a damned thing. In fact (my best Tyson impression) I pity the fool who would dare try to keep me from buying any type of birth control, or any other legal commdity I wanted to buy. I guarantee it would be a day they would never forget. Interestingly enough (and bringing all of you way more into my business than neccessary), although the sponge has been brought back on the market, it hasn't been stocked in any Walgreens in the Richmond city area. Why? Who knows? And if I do get pregnant, is some wonderful moral person going to come take over the financial/emotional burden for me? Or are they just going to proudly tell me how wrong I am for my belief and then move on their merry way?
I suck (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 7:52:21 PM)
I meant Mr. T.
Flame away.
Careful... (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 7/31/2006 8:04:15 PM)
or ears will be bitten!
Dude (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:25:41 PM)
I wish we had an Allen/Bush pic of the kiss like the Lieberman/Bush pic. HOT.
Wouldn't it be great if we could google bomb Allen the way they google bombed man on dog Santorum? The first site that comes up on a search is the google bomb site-it's so great. DISGUSTINGLY GREAT.
haha (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:30:01 PM)
hehehehe
dude.... (pitin - 7/31/2006 6:48:35 PM)
I was actually eating dinner when I clicked on the above link.

which has to fit into the Culture of Corruption theme somehow. Unless it's just about slippery mail-order sewage. How does one tell?
Go give Jim Webb $$. Now. Go do it. (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:33:14 PM)
GO.
BUT I LIKE THE PRETTY MAP PICTURE! (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 6:42:24 PM)

Couldn't help myself.
Hey-this is one of the greatest Kos diaries I have ever read. When Pastors get real...
Condi kind of sounds like Hitler (phriendlyjaime - 7/31/2006 7:17:03 PM)
PBS just showed Gwen Ifill quote Condi who declared that a "final solution" was neccessary for Lebanon re: her non support of an immediate ceasefire.
She also fled the country out of fear for her safety, and the PM of France showed up hours later, he remains unharmed.
At least we know she can never run for President.
Condi=dunzo

Condi, we knew Henry Kissinger, and...you're no Henry Kissinger.
