Not sure if this is "breaking" or if it has been diaried about before, but my apologies if this is already public information.
Delegate David Bulova is supporting Mark Warner for President in 2008. I learned this the other day "unofficially" not through a press release or news conference but by looking at the bumper sticker on his car.
I was at the Sweet Life Cafe (at the intersection of 123 and 236 in downtown Fairfax), which actually happens to be owned by Fairfax City Mayor Rob Lederer and his wife Maureen Lederer. (this information relevant below) at around 10:15PM on Saturday night, and David, his wife Gretchen and their two kids should up for some ice cream.
On my way out I saw a blue minivan with House of Delegate tags and number 96 (for his seniority out of 100) with a big ol "Warner for President" sticker on it. I recognize it as one that "Draft Mark Warner" was handing out at YearlyKos, I assume the Delegate got his from the same group. Additionally, there was another car with Bulova/Kaine/Warner '08 stickers on it, maybe Gretchen's.
Anywho, it is interesting that the Mayor owns this shop, because it closes at 10, yet the delegate was able to get served after closing time, ah, the perks of elected office.
(as a side note) I also saw another car with tag number 23, and with the following information "constitutional officer, state treasurer". Has the Sweet Life Cafe become the new "cigar back room" for NoVA Democrats, or does it just have really good ice cream? I vote that it's the ice cream and shakes.

Good post (Ben - 7/24/2006 1:47:06 AM)
Although the Mayor and City Treasurer are both members of the GOP committee, so I don't think it is becoming the back room for Democrats.
Treasurer for the state (pitin - 7/24/2006 1:51:54 AM)
(whom I assume is a Democrat since Powell served both Warner and Kaine). But thanks for letting me know the Mayor was a Rep.
Did you meet the person? (Ben - 7/24/2006 2:51:04 AM)
The numbered Treasurer licence plates are for local Treasurer's, like the GOP one in Fairfax City. I can't remember if the number is given out by locality, or is also senority based like General Assembly plates. The Commish of Revenue in the City also has a similar looking numbered plate.
nope, didn't meet (pitin - 7/24/2006 3:42:39 AM)
just assumed it was State Tres. based on the tags they said "constitutional officer" and "Treasurer" and of course the number "23".
Constitutional Officer (Ben - 7/24/2006 11:02:33 AM)
is a weird term in Virginia. Basically it means all officers of the Commonwealth, which include members of the General Assembly, and some locally elected officials like Sheriff, Clerk of the Court, Commonwealth's Attorney, Treasurers and Commish of Revenue. Some examples of electeds who are not officers of the Commonwealth include Board of Supervisors and School Boards, and City Councils.
