Anti-Italian slur by a Congressman?

I'm listening to a House Commerce Committee hearing about some guy that had his phone records stolen.  One Congressman (I think it was Ed Whitfield, GOP rep from Kentucky) just said about the company that got his info:

"Now let me ask you - how - if I were you personally I would be upset about realizing my private records are out there, but then, maybe even more apprehensive when I found out the name Gambino was involved in trying to get this information ..." (chuckling)

Note that the company had "Gambino" in its name.  But isn't this comment insensitive to Italian-Americans? Right before this comment, whoever this congressman was asked if the speaker is from New York (he is).  Watching Sopranos too much?

he may well lose his seat (teacherken - 6/21/2006 12:54:31 PM)
his opponent is Tom Barlow, who held the seat for one term before.  The Republican party as a whole in KY is being dragged down by the scandals of the Governor.  Were I Whitfiled (which thank God I am not) I'd stop trying to be so clever that I emrely expose my ignorance and insensitivity.

What about Moran? (progressyouth - 6/24/2006 11:34:27 PM)
What about half the nonsense coming out of my congressman's, Jim Moran's, mouth. At 18, I am a new observer to the political scene. I would like to know: Has any Democrat ever challenged Moran?
