One letter from Drake's lawyers is all it took to get Cox to pull the ad.
"We received a letter from a local law firm," Pamela Marino, a Cox spokeswoman, confirmed Sunday afternoon. "After serious consideration
and consultation, Cox Hampton Roads has decided to temporarily suspend rotation of the MoveOn.org commercial." . . .A letter challenging the accuracy of the newest ad was sent to Cox on Friday.
The cable company suspended the ads that evening.
The Drake camp claims that the ad "distorts" Drake's record to "suggest" she doesn't support the troops. Thou does protest too much! Seriously, though, the ad seems to just point out truthful facts about her record and donor base - which was substantiated beforehand here.
So why is Cox so scared off? In that brief window of "serious consideration," did they look into the facts already presented to them that back up the ad?
last I say, moveon was touting polls showing they brought kellam to a tie with drake - a biased news release by them, but I haven't seen any hard evidence refuting their claim.
