Please see the Virginia link and election numbers below, we did it for Jim Webb and I am very happy. George Allen will be in for a real fight now!
It is very important to also note that Virginia George Allen supporters are watching this primary race as well and they are putting their own spin on Jim Webb's victory tonight in these extreme right wing Neocon GOP Virginia Blogs:

Here are two comments from George Allen supporters tonight:
"Such a close primary is good for George Allen. However, turnout is a little higher than I thought (so Dems do seem to be a bit energized), and I do fear that this will become a mud-slinging contest as Webb is going to be the candidate. I still think Senator Allen will win, but he may have to put off presidential plans for 4 years if this race turns too dirty."

"I say let the Dems have their victory tonight. Tomorrow+óGéĽ-Şit+óGéĽGäós on!"

The quote above "Tomorrow+óGéĽ-Şit+óGéĽGäós on!" is true and it will be "on" long after tomorrow all the way up to the November election as far as I am concerned!
George Allen is such an extreme ideologue and Neocon stooge that Rush Limbaugh will be the next Karl Rove if Allen is elected President in 2008!
Jim Webb's victory tonight will make sure that does not happen without a serious fight and without a credible discussion of the issues!
As we go into this campaign, it is very important in my opinion to monitor what Virginia George Allen supporters are saying among themselves. You can see what they are saying in these extreme right wing Neocon GOP Virginia links:

http://vaconservative.com/archives/category/allen-for-president/
Please forward this on because we have a very good reason to celebrate tonight!
But remember tomorrow that we will have a very hard and serious fight on our hands all the way up to the November election with millions of people in the Neocon GOP activist grassroots nationwide who will be supporting George Allen in this Senate race mainly because they want him to be President in 2008!

Gen. Wes Clark's endorsement of Jim Webb against George Allen:
+óGéĽ+ôAmerica needs people like Jim Webb - because we need leaders. We need to put Jim Webb in the Senate. He'll make sure that we make the right decisions on the war - and he'll make sure that we'll make the right decisions to help the people of Virginia.
"I've known Jim for over 20 years. He's a Naval Academy graduate. He's one of the real heroes of the Vietnam War. He was a great fighter - who then got out of the military and chose to serve his country in other ways.
"I knew him when he was the assistant secretary of defense for reserve affairs in the Reagan administration. I just think he's a terrific man, he's a terrific leader - he's the kind of leader Virginians can count on."

Jim Webb is a great guy and this race has a huge amount on the line with George Allen being such an extreme ideologue and his being a very serious player to be President in 2008!
Nick Lampson's race in Texas Congressional District 22 (Tom DeLay's old District) should be very competitive and I will be doing what I can to help him out.
Nick Lampson winning in Tom DeLay's old District would be a great victory in Texas as well as all over the country in my opinion!
Second, I think Nick has an advantage because it will be a four-way race, with Stockman and a libertarian in the race. Thus Nick may only need 42-45% in order to win.
While this one is not a lock, I feel quite comfortable that Nick will be returning to Congress

George Allen vs. James Webb
Filed under: Virginia politics , 2006 Senate campaign by Chad Dotson @ 7:44 am
Well, it was far closer than the Webb-Worshippers predicted, but James Webb defeated Harris Miller yesterday, and Webb is now the Democratic nominee to run against US Senator George Allen. This, despite “a near-record low turnout that a state election official described as ‘dismal.’” (Note, also, that Miller killed Webb in Wise County; no, I didn’t vote.)
After stumbling around like Glass Joe against the worst statewide candidate in recent memory, Webb now gets to face Allen. Sure, Miller would have been an easier opponent for Allen, but Webb’s performance in the primary — despite his compelling background — indicates that he’s a bush-leaguer when it comes to statewide politics.
Webb better get his act together — he’s in the big leagues now.

1. Glass Joe! That was a brilliant pull. Punch-Out is one of the greatest games ever.

2. A couple of observations from yesterday take them for what they’re worth:
1. Dropped off my son’s summer school carpool in Arlington yesterday morning just before 9 AM and headed to the office. I passed an Arlington County Elementary School that was a polling place; the parking lot was filled (school is still in session this week) so voters are parking on the street. Every car that I saw had a Kaine or Kerry bumper sticker (oft times both) and one had a license plate that read, “GWB OUT”.
2. Mr. Webb won overwhelmingly (>60% or better) in NOVA. Yes Chad, Mr. Miller won by a similar margin in Wise but I respectfully point out that (according to the State Board of Elections website this morning) Wise had 299 votes counted yesterday. Arlington and Fairfax had 11,934 and 35,226 votes counted, respectively.
The general election is going to be less an election for Virginia’s junior senator but plebiscite on the President and war in Iraq and Afghanistan, especially in NOVA.
I hope that Senator Allen’s incumbency, accomplishments and fund raising advantage are enough to overcome his opponent’s incompetent campaign organization, lack of money and inexperience. But, I urge my fellow conservatives here not to underestimate Mr. Webb’s support in spite the above.
Let us not resemble the British and French General Staffs in August 1914 with predictions of a swift and easy victory.

3. Dave, your right about not underestimating Webb. He’s for real. But here’s what Allen needs to do on Iraq: Trumpet it. Republicans problems are they have shrunk to the Democratic attacks. Rove said last week that GOPers need to come out hard for Iraq, and point out all the good things that have gone on there–like a full democratic government in the Middle East. In addition, Allen needs to make the Iraq question not about should we have gone it but should we cut-and-run. Allen needs to corner Webb into basically being for cutting and running or against.

4. When given the chance, Webb has cut and run the past 20 years. As Reagan’s SecNav, as a member of the GOP and now he wants the USA to cut and run in Iraq. He’s gone from “Born Fighting” to “Born Quitter.”

5. Rove cleared the very day Jim Webb wins? Coincidence? I think not. Democrats are going to be very sorry in November. Webb will either go down in flames or switch parties the minute he wins. Rove planned it that way.

1. I don’t understand how everyone here seems to think that this is going to be a cakewalk.
Perhaps I’m just a bit too seasoned, but 2004 didn’t teach anyone anything? John Kerry got 45% of the vote. This shocks those Virginians over 30. That someone as liberal as Kerry could garner 45% showed just how much Virginia has changed in the past decade. Didn’t Bush’s dad beat Dukakis by better than 20 in 88? As poor a campaign as Kerry ran combined with his liberal viewpoints and the fact that the campaign didn’t really spend any money in the Commonwealth after July, forty-five percent has got to be some sort of basement for halfway decent Democratic candidates. Forty-five percent is not a long way from 50.1%. I understand that the last 5.1% is tough for a Democrat, but it’s not completely unrealistic either.

2. You can bet on Webb pulling Reagan Democrats with him. As far as I’m concerned Republicans have squandered a great opportunity for the GOP. Democrats have learned a big lesson. That’s why Allen will be facing Webb in the fall. Try that lying Swiftboat crap on Webb. He ain’t gonna roll over for it. I remember when the Republican party used have real conservatives. Those days are gone. The GOP leadership has done nothng but nation build, increase the debt and send our poor soldiers to die in the desert. Where are the real conservatives? The Conservative view is an honorable one and the country needs to see true conservative get back control of the party. These neocons have destroyed your party. Next time you have the Oval Office and both houses–try governing.
