Tim, Jim, and Ingrid

From last night's Arlington JJ Dinner, here's a photo of Virginia Governor Tim Kaine and future US Senator from Virginia, Jim Webb. There's also a brief report from Ingrid about the after-JJ festivities, plus another photo, after the "flip." Thanks as always to Ingrid's husband, Jerry, for the great pics!
Now, here is Ingrid's report:
Here is what some party insiders had to say about the JJ dinner:
This was a Webb crowd, about 60+óGé¼GÇ£40 Webb, maybe even 65-35. [Lowell's note: I'd estimate closer to 60-40 Webb, although Miller staffers were VERY aggressive, almost obnoxiously so, in pushing their stickers on people. Trying to make up for lost time and lack of volunteer numbers with pushiness?]. "Didn+óGé¼Gäót you hear the difference in the applause?" Of course I didn+óGé¼Gäót, because I was yelling too loudly. One party insider said that Miller+óGé¼Gäós comments came down to "I don+óGé¼Gäót want to give up, because I have enough money to spend. But I know I am going to lose. I will support Jim when he wins."
Another party insider, a YD, was very happy with Webb+óGé¼Gäós comments, because "this is Arlington, and he made it a point to mention by name three Arlington electeds who came out for him early on. And then he mentioned the rally with Kerry. It was perfect!"
Yet another one said that during Miller+óGé¼Gäós speech, he was falling asleep. Others had similar comments, and added that it gets boring when he keeps mentioning Mark Warner, who is not running for anything.
A guest with whom I spoke was undecided. I spoke about how we can be a majority party again. It seemed to stick, but not quite. Until he said that he hates elected official So and So. I stated that So and So endorsed Miller. Upon which the guest said "Oh, then I am definitely voting for Webb!"
When we went to the bar for drinks, there were about 25 people there, ALL Webb supporters.

Are you fully awake, I. Publius?
COMMENT HIDDEN (I.Publius - 6/10/2006 7:04:53 AM)
What on earth are you talking about? (Lowell - 6/10/2006 8:24:36 AM)
Jim Webb's height? What next, his hair color? Huh?
COMMENT HIDDEN (I.Publius - 6/10/2006 8:33:37 AM)
I am not aware of anyone ... (thegools - 6/10/2006 10:47:15 AM)
who has made fun of Miller's looks. In any case, Miller's views on issues and his past actions have been the focus of most things here.
NLS had something on what Judy Feder and how she needed a "make-over." That's all I remember.
Who on RK has ever denigrated Miller's looks? (Lowell - 6/10/2006 1:41:46 PM)
Please provide a specific link where I, or any other RK member, attacked Miller's "looks."
Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp....
Are you Calling Kaine Fat? Jeez. n/t (Alicia - 6/10/2006 3:30:17 PM)
Great!! (Nichole - 6/10/2006 7:00:02 AM)
Those pictures are wonderful and it sounds like the event went well for Webb.
We're down to critiquing height? (JC - 6/10/2006 8:46:45 AM)
What's next, the way he parts his hair?
Man, Wednesday morning people are going to wake up and be thankful that this is over. I don't see how even the Republicans will be as dirty as this--it'll be a general election and they'll be trying to appeal to the middle.
This is I. Publius we're talking about... (Lowell - 6/10/2006 9:00:00 AM)
'nuff said.
the question is.. (Nichole - 6/10/2006 9:48:14 AM)
Which way DOES HE part his hair?
Hair-parting (rjl - 6/10/2006 10:14:06 AM)
is not a subject on which I could credibly comment.
Demand! (Nichole - 6/10/2006 10:18:03 AM)
I demand we find out, we as voters have a right to know!
Alice Marshall is complaining that... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/10/2006 10:19:40 AM)
Webb used to part his hair from the right but now he parts it from the left,
HOW DO WE KNOW HE WON'T SWITCH BACK!!!
What a flip-flopper.. (thegools - 6/10/2006 10:49:21 AM)
First he parts on the right, then the left....and then in the center! The Horror!!! (I am sorry I am going to have to change my vote.)
Oh no! (Nichole - 6/10/2006 10:57:48 AM)
I don't know if I can ever trust someone who changes the side on which he parts his hair.
Oh no... now I am worried. Do you think he ever sleeps on one side of the bed and the next night... the other??
I have noticed that... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/10/2006 10:18:12 AM)
For the entire campaign, Miller has appeared to believe that he could run on Mark Warner's dime, as if he had the debit card to Warners political capital.
