He's Gonna Need It

I see from VA Progressive, and from Waldo, that with less than 100 hours to go in this primary, Harris Miller has contributed an additional chunk of cash and plans to spend a total of $975,000 of his own money in this campaign in a desperate attempt to buy Tuesday's primary.

While the Webb Campaign and VA Progressive are of the opinion that this is a despicable move, Waldo seems to think that this is Miller's most Warneresque moment.

Here's what I have to say on the matter:

I hope, for his sake, that Harris Miller has got many, many, many multiples of this amount of cash on hand, because he's gonna need it.

If Miller does manage to buy this primary, we'd all better hope he's got $30 or $40 extra Million burning a hole in his bank account somewhere, because that's what it's gonna take in media buys and paid operatives for Harris Miller to actually be competitive with George Allen.

With no volunteer base, a much smaller donor base, and ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NO NATIONAL SUPPORT BECAUSE OF HIS DESPICABLE, FALSE, ROVIAN ATTACKS BASED ON SEXISM, RACISM, AND ANTI-SEMITISM, Harris Miller will truly be on his own against Allen.

Miller really has no candidacy, but he's got a bit of money.  If there was more there, it would make sense. Waldo's thesis would fly.  But anyone who's ever met, heard, or seen Mark Warner knows that Harris Miller is no Mark Warner.  Judging from his negative campaign, he's more Jerry Kilgore.

That's just wrong... (va.walter - 6/9/2006 2:19:51 PM)
to compare someone to Jerry Kilgore.  I know this primary has gotten a bit dirty but that's hitting way below the belt. :)

yeah, it's just awful (Josh - 6/9/2006 2:25:11 PM)
There's been too much negativity in this campaign.

Now your'e insulting Jerry Kilgore? (JC - 6/9/2006 2:37:34 PM)
If I remember correctly, Jerry didn't go ultra negative until September.

Still, this is a primary, so June kinda is November . . . still the comparison seems insulting to Jerry.

Sorry Jerry, we didn't mean for you to get caught up in this nasty Democratic Primary.

Don't fall for Miller's trap. (loboforestal - 6/9/2006 2:41:18 PM)
The old Republican playbook that Miller crimps from says that if you can disgust enough good folks into not voting and trick some people into thinking that you are a victim, then you have a chance at turning an election.  Stir in some racist undertones and you introduce the fear element. Throw in a bunch of fat cat bucks and you can steal a close election.

Miller could have taken the high road; but so could Richard Nixon and George Bush.  Winning at any cost is what they're all about.

Miller is what Miller does.  His record reveals a driven, tragic man bent on destruction.  He's just trying to pull anybody else he can into his mudpit.  Stay clear of it.

Let him destroy himself alone.

1. Ugh.  Now I remember why I don't like lobbyists running for office.

2. Jesus, I've never seen a guy so damn eager to be a placeholder.
