> Globalization is inevitable (which is true)
> It will bring peace and prosperity to the entire globe (fairytale)
> First, we have to level the playing field… (con-job setup)
> …by outsourcing every possible American job (punch-line)
> Oh, by the way, we will pay you $50 million dollars to make it happen (spoon full of sugar)
Eli Whitney thought he was helping to end slavery by inventing the cotton gin because it did the work of 10 men to process cotton. He did not foresee the explosion of slavery to grow and harvest the short fiber cotton, which could be grown all over the southern American states.
Eli Whitney also attempted to create a middle-class and break the Guild system by inventing the concept of interchangeable parts, the assembly line and the factory based system of manufacture, which launched the Industrial Revolution.
Eli Whitney's good intentions expanded slavery and accelerated industry in a way that pushed our country headlong, down hill into a bloody Civil War. His heart and mind were in the right place but he lacked the foresight that greedy and selfish people would take advantage of his innovations with such abuse and lack of humanity.
The same people in power who have abused the outsourcing of American jobs have also doomed our children to a lifetime of massive debt and terrorism by ransacking and torturing the people of Iraq, while looking for weapons of mass destruction, which did not exist.
Witless elected officials like Virginia US Senator George Allen who have rubberstamped every arrogant and destructive policy of George W. Bush, are just as guilty as those who have invented the self-destructive policies.
Good intentions should not excuse the lack of foresight of the people who are in a position to stop or slow down the abuse and lack of humanity of greedy and selfish people. The purpose of our government is to protect all of the people, not just the greediest few.
"Under a separation of state and economics, especially with laissez-faire capitalism [Free Trade], the state no longer has a role to play in protecting the people and assuring their happiness. Laissez-faire means capitalism is outside the regulatory control of the state and that the people are entirely at the mercy of the capitalists."
-- Thomas Jefferson
And he chooses to deny this. Or, he attempts to blame the victims claiming that the Americans can't find work because they are somehow inferior... He lies because that is the best way for him to advance the interests of his corporate clients -- the corporations determined to replace their American workers with foreign low wage workers.
Miller's embrace of offshore outsourcing is too calculated. He tells every audience a different story...
Harris Miller did not have any "good intentions" -- just ruthless ambitions.
