I placed 40 Webb yard signs at different places around the Fauquier county (& western Pr. William). Only about half survived a week. On Friday I helped a landowner place a 4'x8' Webb sign on his property at the corner of Rt. 605 and Riley Rd. We attempted to foil any would be thieves by placing it about 16' up in a tree. The tree had no limbs below about 25' (for climbing). It looked great and really stood out to the hordes of cars that travel that road....that is until last night (Sunday) when the sign was torn out of the tree and stolen, and the lumber scattered or stolen along with it.
This was no small task and would have required a fair amount of time, strength, and probably a crow-bar. The sign was screwed into a tree trunk with long screws and very long, spike nails. A No Trespassing sign was affixed to the tree just below the sign. (The No Trespassing sign was also torn from the tree and left on the forest floor.) This is the type of crap that we deal with out here in Fauquier county. Countless times I see it happen while all Republican signs are left untouched. (I never reciprocate.) While I cannot blame George Allen personally nor the GOP as a whole, it is one of his fans (no doubt) who has taken it upon himself to silence free speech. (This pattern of behavior predates Miller by several elections, so I do not blame his squad.) I wonder how patriotic this person(s) feels as he does this. Does he do it in the name of freedom and the American way? Would George Allen approve? How about any elected official who pledges to defend the Constitution of the United States of America.... (The event was reported to Police and a report filed.)
