Time Magazine Article

There is a new Article on Jim Webb

Liberals hunt down heretics, Michael Kinsley once wrote, while conservatives happily chase converts. Webb is a convert in a party that mistrusts converts. His candidacy is a litmus test for a party that loves litmus tests

I think last paragraph has great insight into what is wrong with the Democratic party.  There are so many who care about the nation, labor, budget deficits, competency in military strategy, Iraq, trade, tax breaks to the rich, corporate corruption and so on,  who are absolutely disgusted with the Republican NeoCon control of the party and want somewhere to go.

Let's invite them in!  Let's not try to brand them to the red scarlet letter "R"!

Karl Rove's worst nightmare (TurnVirginiaBlue - 6/3/2006 11:18:44 PM)
After I posted the Time article this was just published:

This is a "Hell hath no fury" sort of article and supports your reason why WaPo endorsed the weaker candidate.

If one Democrat of all those seeking office at this stage of the 2006 political sweepstakes could be selected who would typify everything that strategist Karl Rove fears as a candidate it would figure to be James Webb

and possible national ticket figure in 2008? (teacherken - 6/3/2006 11:35:43 PM)
My wife has said, after meeting Jim and watching and listening to him at a fundraiser a few weeks back, that were he to beat Allen he should certainly rise for consideration as a VP candidate (remember, Edwards was apparently considered by Gore only 2 years into his term).  While I don't think Jim would consider it, I think it would consider him for any presidential candidate except Mark Warner (same state) and probably Wes Clark (two military men with little elective experience).

Of far greater importance, he has friends on the other side of the aisle.  He tells people that the first political call he got after being nominated was from Chuck Hagel, whom he calls a close friend (and who is also a Viet vet).

But let's win the primary first.

Don't feed the monster. (thegools - 6/4/2006 1:07:29 AM)
That VP idea is a monster.  I am all for James Webb, and I am all for him being Senator for SIX years.  I want him for at least one full term.  I don't want him pulling a move like George Allen is contemplating, Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Webb for 6! Then we'll see....

Ingrid says it too, welcome them. (kevinceckowski - 6/4/2006 7:56:10 AM)
This goes with what Ingrid just wrote on the Home page. We should include all into the party and not turn our backs on someone who may have been or is a Republican.  The tent is big, bring over the elephants, we will teach them how to kick!!!!!!!!!

Oh and Jim should be our senator. VP etc talk can wait 6 years, totally agree with that.  We need to change Virginia BLUE in a big way.  I guess we will become Purple first but eventually heal and be royal blue for sure. kc
