Time to write some letters

One of our readers, thegools, let us know about the letter he sent to Harris Miller asking Miller to drop out of the race. This is a great idea whose time has come.
Why now? To date, Miller has been well behind in the blogosphere and among the majority of the active democrats, but there was still the issue of how he'd perform when debating Webb. The political outsider Webb might get creamed by the experienced and polished Miller - and therefore raise doubts about Webb's true political potential.
Yesterday's debate put those questions to rest. Miller did not outperform Webb. Miller did not shine. Webb did not falter.
Even for those willing to give Miller the benefit of the doubt it should be clear this battle is over and any further fight can only cause more hard feelings within the Democratic party.
And so now is the time to ask Miller to gracefully bow out and let the true fight, the fight against Allen, begin. I encourage everyone to follow thegools lead and write to Miller.
Here is some contact info off of Miller's website, but this won't go directly to Miller. If anyone has better contact info please let all of us know.

[Tech Note: I'm sure everyone's seen those "Send a Letter" features on websites where they provide the text of the letter and you just click send. I HATE those things and have no interest in providing such a device here. I strongly believe the personal touch is much more powerful than the same computer generated email with different names attached. If you think that Miller should drop out please caputure those feelings and your rationale in your own words and let him know.]

home address? (TrixieinVA - 5/20/2006 11:08:30 AM)
I have his home address, although I need to search through a few things to find it. Is that what you are looking for?
Thanks for the offer (Eric - 5/20/2006 11:51:50 AM)
but I'd prefer to keep this on a professional basis. Let's direct all the mail to the campaign addresses instead of his home. I'm sure Harris has a direct campagin email - that would be the best. If anyone has it please let everyone know.
Couldn't agree more (thegools - 5/20/2006 11:13:13 AM)
I think that is a stellar idea, but I hope all will show dignity and be polite. Jim Webb would have you do no less.
After all, Miller was the first Democrat to put his neck out and to have the courage to challenge George Allen. Like him or not, he deserves commendation for that.
Write to the powers that be. (thegools - 5/20/2006 11:29:46 AM)
I think I may even start sending "Miller-Please Drop Out" letters/emails to people who are influencial in the Party-especially those who are decidedly neutral (Warner, Kaine, Creigh Deeds, Chuck Robb, and also sitting Senators & Congressmen.
That would be a great (Eric - 5/20/2006 11:55:07 AM)
follow up. Perhaps even add Letters to the Editor that explain why we think the race is over and Miller should drop out.
Do you have any contact info (email) for the aforementioned people?
A few ideas for LTE's (Lowell - 5/20/2006 12:10:54 PM)

LTEs (TrixieinVA - 5/20/2006 1:21:30 PM)
LTEs are a far better idea, and they reach a wider audience.
As we know, the more that come it, the more likely papers are to publish a few. Organize a write-in with friends, etc. More than just us here.
Miller (DukieDem - 5/20/2006 1:55:20 PM)
I once held hopes that he would drop out, but there's no way he is. I'm starting to see that Miller has a real chance to win if he out organizes Webb. Instead of wasting time with Miller we need to be making phone calls, licking envelopes, knocking on doors etc.
There is more stuff (Arturo - 5/20/2006 7:42:21 PM)
coming out about Miller in the next couple of days. Miller is bad for the Democratic Party. He should drop out, or he will make Democrats look very, very bad!
