The Richmond Times-Dispatch editorial page is asking the question. So, my fellow Democrats, what is the answer?
*How badly do we want new, forceful leadership in our Party?
*How badly do we want a strong dose of progressivism, populism, and grassroots Democracy in America?
*How badly do we want to shed, once and for all, the slander on our party that we're supposedly "weak on national security?"
*How badly do we want to become a national, big-tent party once again?
*How badly do we want to take back America? And how badly do we want to defeat George Allen this November?
If the answers to those questions are "badly" or "very badly," then Jim Webb should receive your strong supporta nnd your vote on June 13th. If not, if you prefer business-as-usual, then by all means vote for the other guy, the "shorter poorer version...blah blah blah." No, this is not a difficult decision to make. As Mark Warner, says, Jim Webb is a "great American, a great Virginian, and a great Democrat." If Jim Webb is good enough for Mark Warner, he should certainly be good enough for the rest of us Virginia Democrats. That is, if we have the "moxie" to elect him!
On a daily basis I'm inclined to flip a well dserved bird to the editors of the RTD. Why bother? On June 13 and November 7, those kneeknocking wimps will get their answer in spades.
