President Bush will visit Hampton Roads next week.Key Republicans are receiving their official White House invitations to a fundraiser for Rep. Thelma Drake (R-2nd District).
Mr. Bush will be in Virginia Beach on Friday, May 19th for a luncheon at the home of Bob and Elnor Stanton. The event is sponsored by Drake+óGé¼Gäós re-election committee.
Drake's last big name fundraiser was in February when Vice President Dick Cheney came to Norfolk and raised an estimated $200,000.
Drake's opponent for the seat is Democrat Phil Kellam.
Is Bush going to be Drake's anvil or lifeline in what will be a close race against Phil Kellam? Chances are Drake is betting on the election still being 4 months away and that between now and then short term memory loss of Hampton Roads voters will set in. Let's not let that happen.
