Google Trends - What does it all mean?

I just noticed Google's latest toy - a system to compare how many searches there have been for a given word/phrase. This may be an interesting tool... but more likely a great way to waste time. Ok, make that just a way to waste time.
Anyway, I threw in our three candidates for Senate this year and the results were interesting. Perhaps a fairly accurate picture of the current situation.
