1) The sale of Saddam's photo to a newspaper for money (about 500 British Pounds to Rupert Murdoch's "The Sun") appears to have broken U.S. military rules. According to the Washington Post, the military has launched an investigation.
2) According to the U.S. military in Baghdad, releasing the photo of a prisoner to the public possibly violated the Geneva Convention prohibition on "the humane treatment of detained individuals."
3) The photo of the near-naked former Iraqi President could incite anger among Muslims and Arabs, just as the false story in Newsweek about flushing the Koran down the toilet was alleged to have done. (The White House is now saying "This could have serious impact" and is vowing to "get to the bottom of why it happened and how it happened.")
4) It's gross. I mean, Saddam in his underwear? Ack!! (on the other hand, at least the famous question about "boxers or briefs" is now resolved!)
Besides all that, though, it's absolutely hilarious! I just wonder what's next, possibly a calendar entitled "Naked Human Pyramids of Abu Ghraib?" or "Men of the Ba'ath in the Bath?" Ha. Ha. Ha. I'll tell you, this whole Iraq War is just a laff o'minute. Not.
[UPDATE: In accordance with the Geneva Conventions, I have blacked out the photo of Saddam Hussein]
