I am excited about the opportunity for her to serve the community where I live and help make Alexandria+óGé¼Gäós schools even better than they are today. As she and I raise our children, we want to be assured that all children get the best possible education.
Like a progressive Democrat, she is focused on three areas:
1) Identify ways to close achievement gaps among students
2) Recruit and Retain High-Quality Teachers
3) Ensure our children not only get a great, basic education but learn the skills to become responsible, contributing and successful citizens in the global economy
Her very talented brother, Brian, helped create the campaign+óGé¼Gäós website: www.eileencassidyrivera.com where you can read more about her candidacy.
With the elections coming up on May 2nd -- only days from today -- she need lots of help and support to win the election.
Here are some ways you can help:
Voter Contact: I would greatly appreciate any extra time you can spare to help with voter contact.
Phone Calls: We can provide lists of phone numbers of likely voters you can call and ask to vote for her.
Emails: We can provide lists of email addresses of likely voters you can send emails to and ask to vote for her. Better yet, send a blog on her behalf.
Meet and Greet: Over next few days, Eileen and I will continue walking around the district she wants to represent to knock on doors to introduce her and hand out campaign literature. More feet on the street means we can cover more territory. If you have any time on the weekends, I would be grateful if you could help canvass the neighborhoods in the district.
Volunteers for Election Day -- May 2nd: The district she wants to represent (District A, East End of Alexandria) has 9 precincts. That means there are 9 sites where people will go and vote. I need people at each of these precincts handing out literature and asking people to vote for her, from 6 AM to 7 PM.
I'd be grateful if you know anyone who would be available that day. If you are up for taking off from work for the day, I'd be incredibly grateful!!!!!
Resources: Running for School Board is not quite like running for Congress, but it still takes resources to purchase ads, signs, literature and other campaign necessities. I would be grateful for any financial donations you can make to her campaign. You can make checks payable to: Friends of Eileen Cassidy Rivera. The address is 205 East Clifford Ave., Alexandria, VA 22305.
Thank you very much,
Andy Rivera
good luck to her and please visit often
