Complaint Against Harris Miller Referred to FEC!

On April 6, wewrote about a formal complaint being filed with the Virginia State Board of Elections (SBE) for possible violations of Virginia campaign laws by the Harris Miller campaign. The complaint was over a phony "Pew poll" that "asked detailed questions about James Webb and his positions on Affirmative Action to see how voters react[ed]." The complaint was filed by a woman - Theresa "Terry" Hartnett - who received one of the supposed "Pew" calls.
Just as a bit of background, Hartnett is a long-time, loyal Democrat, having served as vice chair of the Braddock precinct for the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC). Hartnett also was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2004 and deputy campaign manager for the "Kerry-Edwards/Virginia Victory 04" coordinated campaign in Northern Virginia.
Anyway, today the Virginia SBE referred Hartnett's complaint to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), given that this is a Federal election and also that any possible legal violations by the Miller campaign would fall under FEC, not SBE, jurisdiction. Now, it's up to the Feds to decide what penalties, if any, to slap on the Miller campaign for its slimy poll.
Now, please remind me, how can anyone support Harris "Job Killer" Miller in this election?

That's two democratic challengers in primaries or conventions with complaints against them at the FEC.
Didn't these people get the super double-secret memo to not act like Republicans do?
Just sayin'.
By don't act like Republicans (DanG - 4/26/2006 2:05:14 PM)
Do you mean don't act corrupt, or don't turn each other in? I'm sorry, but if you do something wrong, you deserve to get caught. It's that simple to me. If you mean don't act Corrupt, I agree completely. If we're going to go after Republicans for being dirty polticians, then we have to stay clean ourselves.
Sorry (Mark - 4/26/2006 2:50:06 PM)
But being intimately involved in the
other FEC complaint about a Democrat that
isn't about Harris Miller, I would have thought that not doing bad things was clear enough. I don't give a damn what party they are in.
Somebody better tell Bill (JC - 4/26/2006 12:12:07 PM)
I wonder sometimes if this wouldn't have all just blown over if IDNTW hadn't super-triple-dog-dared someone to file a complaint.
Maybe Miller will send him a "thank you" note.

Huh? What is "IDNTW" mean? I must have missed that one.
About "IDNTW" (JC - 4/26/2006 3:05:55 PM)
"IDNTW" ("I do not trust Webb") is the pseudonym of someone who comments a lot at Not Larry Sabato. Back when NLS first broke this story, IDNTW denied any wrongdoing by Miller's campaign and basically triple-dog-dared anyone to actually file a complaint. IDNTW's real first name is probably "Bill."
I honestly wonder whether, if IDNTW hadn't stirred this up so much whether this might have been allowed to slide. But IDNTW basically made it a question of honor for the people involved (I was not one of them, by the by) by implying that the were not being truthful.
IDNTW has claimed to be close to Miller personally. In view of IDNTW's role in inflaming the SBE/FEC complaint, I find that fact ironic and more than a little amusing. I can only guesss at the status of that relationship at present.

you owe me a coke...
I'll be drinking it on my way to the Webb event in ARLINGTON...
IN YOUR FACE
IDNTW (Josh - 4/26/2006 3:06:43 PM)
A guy who's name we're not supposed to say because it will threaten his job if it becomes known that he's a miller supporter or something spent the last few months posting violently anti-webb stuff on Not Larry Sabato under the pseudonym: I Do Not Trust Webb. My response was to start posting as Webb Defeats Allen and do to this day.
While, I'm sure he's a good enough guy his choice of pseudonym just reinforces the spirit of anger and complete lack of positive agenda that Miller has fostered throughout this campaign.
I just address the guy as "Trust Webb".

:)
Funny how both of you jumped on that at once. I had seen this person over there at that site before. I wonder too, JC, what that relationship is like now.
On a side note, someone really close to me (hint hint) is getting calls by Harris himself, due to this close friend being the chair of a county committee. One does not know what to say these days; it's a lot of "uh-huh" and "fine" and in response to a query of "What can I do for you?" crickets chirp on the telephone until a intelligible sound is found.
Thanks, you guys!!
