Here's Paul Hackett on Harris Miller, from Hackett's 2-hour Daily Kos "live blog" session, in support of Jim Webb for Senate, last night:
Harris Miller is a well healed special interest machine that the dem national party supports only because they think he can pour his own money in the race. He's one of the country club boys. He's supported rotten republican causes and knows nothing of service, commitment or leadership. He'll get chewed up and spit out by Karl Rove on national security issues. When Karl gets done with him he'll look like he go put through a pencil sharpener then run through a potato ricer. Aside from that, he's in it for himself and other than that, Harris is a hell of guy. Come on folks let's win one.

Now Paul, tell us how you REALLY feel about Harris Miller! Seriously, though, Paul Hackett is great...always calls 'em like he see 'em - no beating around the bush (or the Bush) with Paul! :)

Paul Hackett: breaths out fresh air. (thegools - 4/14/2006 10:32:23 AM)
Although I don't think Hackett could ever be muzzled for anything that he feels like saying, and he probably said this stuff because he feels it independently of anyone else, I can see this statement being construed as a set up by Webb's people.
Paul hackett is a real Character! Did anyone see his skit on Comedy Central's Daily Show? I cried through my belly aching laugh.
The skit was hysterical and sad at the same time (DanG - 4/14/2006 12:15:43 PM)
Hysterical because it shows how ridiculous the political process is.
Sad because it reminded me of the condition our Democratic Party is in.
Paul Hackett is dead on target! (Info_Tech_Guy - 4/14/2006 10:45:25 AM)
I really wish that Paul had won the Ohio race for Portman's old seat. Paul is a tremendous person. He was pressured to step out of the Dem. senate primary by "part elders" -- move which I find similar to the support Miller enjoys. I'm very disappointed and had hoped to pull the lever for Paul in the Dem. primary and the general election. The present Ohio senator is Mike Dewine -- a horrible creature who, like Miller, is completely OK with outsourcing and worker replacement programs. I think that Paul would have destroyed Dewine.
Paul is completely correct in his characterisation of Miller. Miller cannot differentiate himself from Allen on Iraq or economic issues. Miller's ties to job outsourcing and corporate worker replacement programs will continue to gain press attention and errode support from organised labor and white collar workers angry about outsourcing. (See for example, "Labor Labels Senate Hopeful 'Anti-Worker'" in the Friday, April 14 issue of the Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/13/AR2006041301883.html )

You can pretty much count on a Marine to tell it like it is!

I've never heard a politician lay it out so plainly before. It's quite refreshing!

I think this is the most telling statement. And I think both parties are guilty of this.
