No elections in Virginia today, but Francine Busby is on the ballot in California's 50th district, near San Diego. Busby is a Democrat running in a conservative district for the seat vacated by Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who resigned from Congress last year after pleading guilty to taking bribes from defense contractor MZM. According to polls, Busby is close to the 50% she needs to avoide a June 6 runoff. She is running against a ream of Republicans.
By the way, there IS a Virginia connection here. MZM, of course, is the same company with which Virgil Goode (R-5) had a love-fest going. Cunningham first, Goode next? In the meantime, Go Francine!
