For those of you who aren't aware, Jay Fisette has been a member of the Arlington County Board since 1997, serving as chairman in 2001.  Fisette is one of only a few openly gay elected officials in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  In January 2006, Fisette spoke out strongly against the proposed Virginia anti-gay marriage amendment, saying that it would "permanently deny marriage equality for GLBT Virginians and outlaw civil unions and domestic partnerships for all unmarried couples."

It’s definitely a nice endorsement. Didn’t Sean Holihan just write, “Miller received the endorsement of the only openly gay official in the GA with Del. Ebbin.†Well, I guess that’s still the case, but I would point out that Ebbin was Fisette’s campaign manager in 1993.

Well, this will make for a more interesting discussion at the Equality Virginia Dinner this weekend. I’ll be there before the event gathering signatures with other volunteers, though I can’t attend the actual dinner. Jim will be there with Chuck Robb and Harris Miller.

Anyone else attending? I’d love to hear from an objective observer (as opposeed to Sean).

Is the dinner sold out? I think it is. If anyone has an extra ticket they’d like to throw my way, I’d love to go :)
