A Note on Tom DeLay

Amidst all the hubbub over Jim Webb and affirmative action, I almost forgot to say "good riddance" to Tom DeLay.  Of course, on one level it was great to have him around, as it made  it so darned easy to point to the "culture of corruption" by Republicans in Washington DC.  However, as Markos points out on Daily Kos, it ain't over - not at all:

Republicans will pretend that all of DeLay's sins will wash away and no longer affect congressional Republicans. And the media bots will dutifully repeat that spin.

Except that every Republican in Congress enabled DeLay. They all fed from his trough. They even tried to change House rules to allow him to continue serving as House leader while under indictment. And DeLay's cowardly resignation is further proof of just how corrupt and corrosive he really was.

Exactly.  One down, many "culture of corruption" Republicans - Eric Cantor, Virgil Goode, Tom Davis, Jo Ann Davis, Thelma Drake, George Allen - to go.
