Our government has been gutted and replaced by corporate cronies and PR people. Massive tax cuts for the wealthy are financing the outsourcing of our own jobs. The war in Iraq is being used to loot and catapult the U.S. treasury out of America and now they're selling off our ports and security to Dubai and nuclear technology for mangos to India.
Where does it stop? Who's going to make it stop? I don't think it's going to be the status quo or rubber stamps who currently slumber in Congress. We need people with character, conviction and backbone to make a stand and stop the corruption and incompetence in Washington DC. We're not going to find them on K Street but I think we found one in Old Town Alexandria this past weekend at the St. Patrick's Day Parade. His name is James Webb and he is running for U.S. Senate in Virginia this November, 2006.
We met him, we spoke with him and it's time to do the hard work of putting him in office to stop the rubber stamp of current Senator George Allen who has blindly supported every corrupt and incompetent move in Washington for the past five years.
As a Marine serving in Vietnam, James Webb earned the Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and two Purple Heart medals. Webb went on to serve as Ronald Reagan's Navy secretary and became a six-time best selling author including the novel "Fields of Fire" considered by many, including Tom Wolfe to be "the finest of the Vietnam novels."
Although raised as a Democrat, James Webb has dabbled with the Republican Party. But in 1994 when Oliver North ran for senate in Virginia by lying about his own military record, his opponent's military record and lying about the time he testified before Congress about how he had previously lied to Congress, James Webb stood up with the Democrat and told the truth and stopped a truly rotten and arrogant human being from making things even worse than they already are.
Now it's time to stand up for James Webb and help him stand up for the rest of us this November. Please, go to his web site, sign up, and contribute. volunteer and tell a friend.
