Sen. John W. Warner, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, sought a $10 million appropriation last year for the Foreign Supplier Assessment Center in Martinsville, according to Warner's spokesman.There was local support for the facility, and Department of Defense officials considered it worthwhile, said John Ullyot, spokesman for the Republican senator. Goode had brought the project to Warner's attention, Ullyot said.
