Webb at the St. Patrick's Day Parade

A large group of Webb volunteers - 30 or more - showed up today for the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Old Town Alexandria.  We collected petition signatures, marched in the parade, talked to James Webb, hung out at Joe Theismann's, got to know each other better, bonded, etc.  Overall, it was a big success.  Also, it's important to point out the tremendous enthusiasm shown for Webb by the people who showed up today from Richmond, Hampton Roads, and Fredericksburg.  What's even more impressive is that these were all volunteers, in contrast to the other Democratic candidate, whose 10-15 "supporters" appeared to be overwhelmingly paid staffers.  Interesting contrast, interesting choice for voters - one candidate with tremendous grassroots enthusiasm and a rapidly growing professional team, the other who's been working at this for at least 2 months now, but who has very little grassroots enthusiasm to show for it.

One more photo...many but definitely not all of the Webb marchers today.

P.S.  Thanks to Mary D. and Eric G. for the pics...

[UPDATE:  Lots more great photos are avaiable at the Webb 2006 Yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/webb2006/).  Come join us there!]

[UPDATE #2:  Excellent, "fair and balanced" accounts of the parade are available at Too Conservative (best Republican blog in Virginia, by the way), Not Larry Sabato, and of course Virginia Pundette
