Arlington Young Democrats Show Their Appreciation to Our Soldiers

CarePackagesForTheTroops 002Before heading home to their families for the holidays, Arlington Young Democrats took some time on Saturday to send some love to our soldiers overseas. Working with AnySoldier.com, we packed boxes for six different locations with everything from necessities like protein bars and toothpaste to special requests like M&Ms and movies. And of course, letters of thanks.

It cost less than $60 to fill and ship each box and AnySoldier.com makes sure your letters and donations get into the hands of the troops who need them most:

We have volunteer Soldier "contacts" on the "Where to Send" page. Click through the names and select the one(s) you wish to support. They list what the folks they represent want and need. We even have a search capability so you can easily identify what the troops need most.

All the Soldiers involved in this effort are military volunteers stationed in areas that are in harm's way. You send your support (letters and/or packages) addressed to them and when they see the "Attn: Any Soldier-«" line in their address they put your letters and packages into the hands of Soldiers who don't get much or any mail first. Everything is shared.

Thanks to the AYD volunteers who gave part of their Saturday for such an important effort!

Thank you for taking the time to do something for someone else.  It is personal touches like these that show others our caring and interest in their lives.  It is so hard to be away from loved ones, especially during the holidays.   Knowing there are people out there who care enough to send someone they don't know something in the mail will bring a smile to their faces.  Because everyone overseas and deployed is someone else's father, mother, sister, brother, best friend, etc.  You guys did a good thing.

Thank you again Arlington for being a shining example of how YDs can have a positive impact on their community, local and abroad. You continue to be the standard by which other YDs organizations are judged. Way to go!!!!!
