Given that RK is toast at the end of 2008, we thought it was about time for an in-person toast the people who made it possible.
Please join us as we say Farewell to RK and pay tribute to Lowell and Eric for their years of hard work helping turn Virginia blue:
* Monday, December 15, 6-8pm
* Piola Restaurant, 1550 Wilson Blvd, Arlington (near Rosslyn Metro)
* Complimentary food and happy hour specials at private bar included with contribution
* Reserve tickets now at ActBlue
The event will be hosted by Not Larry Sabato's Ben Tribbett and proceeds will go to Miles Grant for Delegate. Email us with any questions!

I think it's a shame... (RadicalCentrist - 12/4/2008 3:44:52 PM)
that folks can't show their earnest appreciation for Lowell's and Eric's innumerable hours of hard work for Jim Webb and so many others at an event like this without contributing to a candidate that we may or may not support (or may not even know yet whether we support, in my case). Or am I wrong? I went to the ActBlue page and I got the impression that to go you had to contribute $50. Am I wrong?
Nothing is stopping you (rosebudrmm - 12/4/2008 3:56:18 PM)
from organizing your own farewell party! I say, the more, the better for all the hard work Lowell and Eric have done.
On the other hand, perhaps it would be a great opportunity to say thank you to RK and to get to know Mr. Grant a bit in person. It might help form your opinion. Personally, I wish I could pay the $50 to go and show my support to them all.
I take that as a "no" (RadicalCentrist - 12/4/2008 4:04:14 PM)
I guess instead of getting to shake their hands, those who don't want to monetarily support Mr. Grant will just have to show their support by continuing the work Lowell and Eric started. In the end, that's probably the best way to honor all their hard work anyways.
And by the way, I don't pay to 'get to know' candidates. I support people with my dollars and my efforts AFTER they've earned it, not the other way around. I think you've got that a little backwards.
Yes, "continuing the work" is the key. (Lowell - 12/4/2008 4:09:57 PM)
Speaking for myself, I could really do without the farewell parties. They're not my style - or Eric's either, as far as I know - at all. Having said that, Miles is a friend of mine and so I'm attending this as a personal favor to him.
Fair enough (RadicalCentrist - 12/4/2008 4:21:39 PM)
I understand why you'd want to support a friend. I just think it's too bad that everyone who'd want to attend your 'farewell party' (begrudging as your own attendance may be) will not because it's really a fundraiser for Mr. Grant. Really though, this is silly, so I'll just let it go, but I'd have been remiss if I hadn't said that I'm disappointed and I doubt I'm alone.
Nonetheless, I'll just take this as an opportunity to say 'Thanks' directly to you. You've done great work and while I sometimes disagreed with you, Virginia is a better place for your efforts. That's a hell of a legacy to my way of thinking.
I understand your point in paragraph 1 (Lowell - 12/4/2008 4:31:49 PM)
and very much appreciate what you wrote in paragraph 2. Thanks!
Sure, (rosebudrmm - 12/4/2008 4:15:44 PM)
continuing their work is probably the greatest honor you can give them. Like I said, though, nothing is stopping you from throwing a party of your own! If you want to shake their hands, then you should take the initiative if you don't like what other people have set up.
Not backwards, just a different perspective. They are graciously hosting a party (which takes time, effort and money) so I have no problem contributing; however, I understand why you may not want to.
Of course (RadicalCentrist - 12/4/2008 4:23:27 PM)
Thanks rosebud, I appreciate the fact that others are expending time and money and that you see my point as well. Hope everyone has a great time.
I'll be there (briandevine - 12/5/2008 11:06:24 AM)
Both to thank everyone at RK and to help support Miles
