True to form, Norm Leahy takes the right approach to the Virginia GOP's woes:
But they remain ill-served with a leadership that has no agenda, with members who, generally, tend to wait until January to focus on the road ahead and an overall message that is neither coherent nor energizing (quick...what does the GOP hope to accomplish in the next session? One priority...just one...will do).
Speaker Howell likes to say that Republicans are the only ones who propose new ideas in Virginia. Aside from regional taxing authorities (unconstitutional), $1000 speeding tickets (repealed) and using the budget surplus to fund transportation projects (no such thing at present) can you name one solid new idea for improving the lives of Virginians that has originated within the Republican Party?
I couldn't either.

Are you forgetting (Teddy - 11/19/2008 11:49:51 AM)
the anti-gay marriage amendment? Surely the Republicans consider that a great benefit for Virginia. It depends on the eye of the beholder.
Teddy, RIGHT ON!!! (Used2Bneutral - 11/19/2008 12:51:02 PM)
and if you didn't see it, Mark Levine did the same topic that was posted here over the weekend as his TV show Monday Night... The sarcasm would be hillarious if it didn't have so much truth to it..... He even suckered some people into thinking he was serious. One phone caller said he was crazy about not allowing Left-handers to marry and then Mark asked him if he felt the same way if it were about gays and the caller took the bait, hook line and sinker.... here is the URL for the show on Google
http://video.google.com/videop... and there is more on Mark's website at
http://www.RadioInsideScoop.com
The second Telephone caller is after the 45 minute mark.... Mark is going to extract it and put it up on YouTube separately
I can't forget the image in my mind of Bob Marshall defending the Virginia constitutional marriage ammendment at the Fairfax Government Center when they did that debate a couple of years back.... the statements grounded in hate and intolerance rather that love, fairness and acceptance.
Funny, sad (Teddy - 11/19/2008 2:00:53 PM)
Thanks for the link to Mark's show; I wouldn't have believed some one could rant for an hour on the subject of left-hand perversion, but Mark managed it. Poor Javier, so sure gay marriage was sinful, and finally confused into thinking maybe left-handedness also wasn't all
right(!), either. What a send-up of the mindset of bigotry. At least Nancy got it, and played along very well. What bothers me, ultimately, is that weak minds or weak wills can be overcome and brainwashed by a strong-willed, voluble orator, and convinced of anything, however ridiculous or hateful. What kind of under-mind are we tapping into here?
PS: as I admitted elsewhere, I, too, was ambidextrous in my youth, but I CHANGED. Therefore, so can anyone else; it's a choice.
Come visit the crew that helps Mark, George, and Shannon do these shows (Used2Bneutral - 11/20/2008 12:53:36 AM)
Bryan and few other bloggers have been regular visitors/observers.... feel free to visit us in Merrifield Virginia while we do one of our live shows every Sunday 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM or Mondays from 7 PM to 8 PM. It can be a blast to see all that goes on behind the cameras as well....
Our new virtual studio is going to be renamed "Holo-Deck #1" with all the new sets we are adding to the computer systems that generate the video. We designed and built this new facility ourselves for just these kinds of shows.
We expect to help others across the country duplicate our facility using the design and technologies we have integrated that make this work. It's our hope other local area shows can be produced to also compliment the Net-Roots we feel we are a part of. We also consider what we do just another more sophisticated form of "Live" video Blogging that is accepted by the non-Internet savy general public.
If you need directions or you want to warn us you are coming, you can reach me at JimS@NoVa.org .... we hope to see you soon.....
OBTW, it's interesting that all the progressive and Dem shows at our station are the first to use the new technologies and have become the experts and innovators. While our Republican counterparts are stuck using stuff that is twenty years old and obsolete by their own choice.... kinda like their concepts on energy and society in general..... Hmmm Genetic??? or is it a learned trait like being left-handed or Gay...... :)
