Virgil Throwing in the Towel?

Is Virgil Goode throwing in the towel and admitting the obvious - he was defeated fair and square last Tuesday by Tom Perriello? Based on this report, it sure sounds like he's leaning in that direction:
...Speaking at a Veterans Day Ceremony, Goode refused to concede but said it's appropriate for Perriello to go to the new member orientation.
He also wouldn't say whether he'll call for a recount.
"We're going to look and see what the election tapes and the data shows and then make a decision," Goode said.
[WSLS Political Analyst Dr. Bob] Denton says the current vote total makes a recount unlikely.
"I'd be surprised if he called for a recount," he said.
That means we could have resolution to this race in days instead of weeks.
Earlier tonight, I spoke with Tom Perriello and he's moving forward with his transition plans. He's also very honored and excited to be the 5th district's new congressman. Go Tom!

Virgil, dont let the door hit you on the way out (faithfull - 11/11/2008 10:41:27 PM)
You'd think he would at least spare us from having to pay for a useless recount.
I couldn't be more excited to have, for the first time in my life, a Congressman worth the honor of his office. I can't wait to see the work that Tom is going to do and the impact he is going to have on our politics in Washington.
Congratulations to Tom and his team, but also, congratulations to my hommies in the fifth who busted their butts to make this a reality.
Amen! (wahoomatt05 - 11/12/2008 4:59:58 PM)
I love living in Charlottesville, whenever I tell people about my adopted home town I have plenty of good things to say. Its a beautiful city on a livable scale with great people, art, music, and culture. I love the blue ridge mountains, and I love the scenery here as the seasons change. The only time I am ever embarrassed is when the question is raised, "Wow, that sounds like a really progressive place, who is your congressman?" Well now I am proud as hell of Tom Perriello, and I know that he will respect his office and help all of the people of the 5th district.

I too talked with Tom today. Tom is quite humbled by the events of Nov. 4, but you are correct he is also very excited about the possiblities.
This win and the loss of Goode from office (thegools - 11/12/2008 12:20:19 AM)
is like sweety cherry on top of the big Obama victory cake.
Time to move on... (MMeadows - 11/12/2008 1:37:55 PM)
Only time will tell if VG is willing to move on or he will contest Tom's win. But make no mistake if he does move on it may only be temporary. His good old boy backers may be trying to figure out how to beat Tom in 2 years at this point. Tom needs to make a difference quickly and be accessible to everyone in order to position himself to win again in two years.
I know he is fully capable but remember he'll be running on his own in 2 years and that might be the real fight the VG and his supporters are ready to fight.
Go Tom Go!
In any case, he's going to lose (Populista - 11/13/2008 2:06:36 AM)
What I wonder is what happens in 2010. Does Virgil run again? If not, who does?
