Pitch perfect. He appealed to the emotions and gave the statistics. I think my favorite part is that he says that he has no stake in this and still holds a pro-gay marriage stance.

It's a shame that more people didn't say things like this before last Tuesday's vote.
Here's to the future... (doctormatt06 - 11/11/2008 12:31:34 AM)
When my generation throws of the shackles that our forebears have placed upon the gay community....good on ya Keith.
Amen! (Dan - 11/11/2008 12:51:43 AM)
I really appreciate the way Keith Olbermann made his case. This is about other people being happy. Legalizing gay marriage isn't in any way a slight at religious people who are opposed to gay marriage. It doesn't delegitimize their marriage or their freedoms. All this does is allow people an opportunity to share their love with someone else. This is something that makes people happy. Therefore, enabling gays to marry is actually good for society!
There is no reason to deny people happiness just because some people are uncomfortable. It would be like a town having a law that African-Americans couldn't by a home there because the people voted to keep them out. Just because people are uncomfortable with something, doesn't mean they are right.
Keith Keith Keith!!!!! (DanKalbacher - 11/11/2008 4:43:31 AM)
I've been watching his special comments for a very long time and this was probably his most memorable and meaningful! This is definetly going up on my facebook for all to see! Hopefully others will do the same in spreading this message!!!
I would hope for sooner rather than later (Tiderion - 11/11/2008 11:43:34 AM)
but I take pleasure in the notion that my age group was the one to stand against Prop 8. It might take generations passing before gay marriage is accepted and tolerated. Though I would prefer a strong statement of support from the federal government right now instead of waiting. I know too many good people who are in committed relationships who happen to be gay. What strengthens our own liberties is when we stand up for one anothers' liberties.
