Finally, A TELEVISED Debate between Goode and Perriello Monday Night!

Virgil Goode and Tom Perriello will be participating in a LIVE televised debate on Star News (Cable 18 and WGSR 39) on Monday, November 3 at 7 p.m. The debate will last one hour. The studio will be open to 15 supporters from each side.
The studio address is 6 Hollywood Blvd.in Martinsville. Audience participants should arrive by 6:30 - 6:45 pm.
The moderator will also be taking questions via call-in from the TV audience so those who cannot be in the studio should stay at home and try to call in questions. Call-in number is (336) 349-5594 or (336) 342-2668.
We know the TV station's viewership leans Goode's way so let's try to get as many people as possible to call in to announce support for Tom and ask tough questions of Goode!
UPDATE by Lowell: The story I'm hearing as to why Virgil agreed to this debate is as follows. After dodging the only televised debate with Tom this year, Virgil thought he'd be reeeeaaal clever by asking for a debate in Danville, the night before the election on a TV station that only covers Martinsville and Danville. Goode figured that Perriello's campaign would turn the offer down, given time constraints at the end of the campaign. Instead, as he always does, Tom Perriello rose to the challenge, and now will spend an hour kicking Virgil's butt tomorrow night on live TV. Go Tom! :)

I would go (Mark - 11/2/2008 2:46:50 PM)
but I will be setting up polling places outside, with the help of a friend from DC.
Nice work, Jim!
I find it particularly funny (Jim White - 11/2/2008 5:03:24 PM)
that Goode was the one to come up with the idea! Star News only broadcasts on cable in the Martinsville-Danville area, so viewer numbers will probably be small. Still, Tom will have 1 hour to humble Virgil, and Virgil will have 1 hour to have a "maccaca" moment!
I'm pretty sure... (Science Virginian - 11/2/2008 6:25:43 PM)
...that DirecTV and Dish Network subscribers can't get this (which includes a lot of people in Henry and Pittsylvania Counties); I'm sure all part of Virgil's plan, such as it is.
Unfortunately, what I have seen come out of this station is pretty vile; I hope they have a fair moderator.
you are right SV, (Jim White - 11/2/2008 6:53:13 PM)
These are Goode's people so to speak. But, they are allowing only 15 supporters from each camp in the studio, so it will be even. The callers can make a difference, if they lean one way or another.
Expect the same crap from Goode, while Tom tackles the issues.
Glad the audience will be even, at least. (Science Virginian - 11/2/2008 9:03:04 PM)
I just have doubts about the moderator.
On the other hand, I have a great deal of confidence in Tom's ability to handle whatever they throw at him!
I was down in Roanoke this weekend (aznew - 11/2/2008 8:55:38 PM)
and getting there from C'ville is a route that goes in and out of the 5th District, including parts of Campbell County, Franklin County and Bedford, and since I got lost, almost all the way to Rocky Mount on 220 South.
Anyway, except for the stretch of road right near Virgil's home town, the sign wars seemed to me to be just about even, if not slightly in favor of Perriello.
Quite a few "Obama-Warner-Perriello" signs, which I really like, since they might possibly increase the up-ticket coattails.
BTW, the Fall foliage around the Blue Ridge was spectacular. Definitely worth the drive for you city folk. :)
Debate to be broadcast on public radio (Lowell - 11/2/2008 9:20:45 PM)
From the Perriello campaign:
UPDATE: The Star News debate at 7 p.m. will also be broadcast on WVTF public radio and streamed online at www.wvtf.org.
Frequencies:
89.1 - Roanoke & Lynchburg
88.5 - Charlottesville
89.3 - Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Staunton & Harrisonburg

Thanks for the update Lowell! (Jim White - 11/2/2008 9:36:05 PM)
We NEED Tom (mphej - 11/2/2008 11:49:30 PM)
Wish I could be there for Tom. I'd ask him if he believes, as Virgil does, that the mortgage crisis is the fault of Mexicans and if his energy plan is more comprehensive than Virgil's "drill more".
