At certain points during the primaries and again when McCain had his brief September bump in the polls, we heard some Democratic strategists accuse Barack Obama of weakness for not being more aggressive and attacking.
Well, today the Obama delivered a message to John McCain - have some:
On a conference call with reporters just now, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said that the campaign is going up on the air in the final stretch in three states: Georgia, North Dakota, and ... McCain's home state of Arizona.
Plouffe said that yesterday's "rear view mirror" ad attacking McSame would go up in Georgia and North Dakota, and the positive closing spot, which features the endorsements of Warren Buffett and Colin Powell, would go up in Arizona.
Does Obama have a shot in Arizona? Probably not. Is it a stomach punch for the McCain campaign to have Obama on the air in his backyard? Absolutely. And this gives Obama the lead in yet another news cycle at a time when there are few cycles left to own before Election Day. Maybe McCain will respond with another devastating attack accusing Obama of being bipartisan.
I love it!
