Paul Begala on Frank Wolf's "Macaca Moment"

I'll tell ya, don't ever get on Paul Begala's bad side!
Remember the "Macaca Moment" of August 2006? All Virginians recall the racist slur then-Senator George Allen used against one of Jim Webb's campaign volunteers. We may have a new moment in which a Virginia Republican self-destructed. And once again it is caught on tape...
Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Status Quo) stood idly by as one of his congressional staffers whacked one of Democratic opponent Judy Feder's campaign aides with a metal cane. It's been 152 years since Rep. Preston Brooks of South Carolina beat Sen. Charles Sumner of Massachusetts with his cane on the Senate floor, but perhaps Rep. Wolf is so tied to the past that he has embraced the violent tactics of 19th century pro-slavery fanatics.
There's a lot more, including the lines, "I'm sure Kim Jong Il would be proud" and "I guess for Frank Wolf, human rights stops at the water's edge." Hahahahaha, I told you not to get on Paul Begala's bad side. :) Anyway, check out the whole thing here, there's more where that came from!

Wow.
I know Begala loves Judy but, um... Wow.
Human rights? (LoudounLad - 10/29/2008 7:06:23 PM)
Frank Wolf not only voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment, he co-sponsored it. Years later, national pundits are just getting around to the idea that Wolf's not the champion of human rights he's been claiming? If so, this is well worth it.
not that I condone the beating but , (presidentialman - 10/30/2008 12:35:25 AM)
I think when Allen did his thing, the guy was an opponent doing his job, filming the opponent, whereas usually its reporters, not opponent aides, that ask questions. When that "reporter" Jeff Gannon I think his name is,who was secretly a cozy GOP plant, kept being called on by the Bush people, and it was found out that he wasn't a reporter, and that it caused a scandal, I see a passing similarity to the Wolf-Feder incident. And the outrage maker here, is a democrat that helped elect Bill Clinton president. I guess I should be shocked, but why, given this information?
It like going to a protest to practice civil disobedience, and then you're outraged when you're arrested, when that's what civil disobedience is and what the organizers coached you on. Cry me a river.
And there would have been NO EXCUSE (Lowell - 10/30/2008 5:02:45 AM)
for anyone to have assaulted Jeff Gannon. Again, note that George Allen trackers were in Jim Webb's face almost constantly from the spring of 2006, and nobody ever hit them or assaulted them in any way. Also note that celebrities and public figures have reporters, cameramen, etc. on them frequently, but if they assault the reporters and/or cameramen, they're in big trouble. This isn't a difficult concept, it's the law.
