Washington Post Poll of Virginia: Obama 52%-McCain 44%

You can read it all here, including the finding that Obama's ahead 17 points in the crucial, swing region of Hampton Roads. The bottom line is that Barack Obama's got a lead in Virginia with 8 days to go. According to the Washington Post poll, that lead is 8 points (52%-44%), but whatever it is, we should all keep working like it's tied or we're ahead by 1 point. Thanks, and G'Obama!
P.S. The best line in the Washington Post article is this: "'McCain has Bush's bad attitude' Fred Woyach, 63, a systems engineer who lives in Centreville, said in a follow-up interview. 'McCain doesn't get it.'" You said it, Fred! :)
UPDATE: Also, Mark Warner's ahead in this poll, 61%-31%, among "likely voters." He's up even more, 62%-29%, among "registered voters." Now that's impressive.

Yet
another promising poll of Virginia, this one by SurveyUSA. Basically, Obama leads by nearly a 2:1 margin in northern Virginia and is about even everywhere else in the Commonwealth.
Also in this poll, Mark Warner leads Jim Gilmore 63%-32%. Hey, can Gilmore challenge Bob McDonnell for Governor next year? I'd love to see Gilmore the Republican nominee for everything! :)
On the contrary... (Dave N. - 10/27/2008 12:44:17 PM)
I'm thinking that this may be Gilmore's swan song. Then again, ideologues are hard-headed, so...

Obama won't tie out here is SWVA. However, if John McCain gets 13% of the African American vote, I'll wear a dress to class on the 5th. Come on, that's ridiculous. And that will give Obama a much bigger lead in Southeast VA, like what the post is saying. All in all, the final number might be close, but I have a hard time believing how they got there. Obama is down 5, at least, in Southwest, and is up 5, at least, in Southeast.
Zogby has Virginia plus 7 (DanG - 10/27/2008 1:19:43 PM)
New Reuters/Zogby poll has Virginia in Obama's category by 7.
