This e-mail message was released as part of the so-called troopergate probe.
I'm posting this not to discuss the probe, Palin's side of the story, or her ex-brother-in-law's side of the story, but to discuss Palin's implicit understanding of what being objective means.
Check out her use of the term near the beginning and again near the end of the e-mail message.
She seems to think that merely asserting that one is being objective after disclosing a clear source of potential bias should be sufficient to resolve any doubts in the reader's mind about any apparent conflict of interest.
This kind of mentality reminds me a lot of our current President who has asserted throughout his terms that we shouldn't question his decisions, because he claims to have only our best interests at heart.
We don't know what a President Palin would do, if McCain wins and can't fulfill his term. I think, however, that the ignorance Palin displayed in the August 2005 e-mail message ought to disqualify the McCain/Palin ticket, especially now, coming on the heels of Bush.
