Will VA GOP Leaders Reject Frederick's Reckless Remarks?
By: TheGreenMiles Published On: 10/13/2008 12:15:00 PM
Now that John McCain has refused to repudiate Jeff Frederick's maliciously false connection of Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden, I have to wonder if other leaders of the Virginia Republican Party will follow suit. Will Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling, Ken Cuccinelli, John Warner, Thelma Drake, Keith Fimian, Virgil Goode, and Frank Wolf (among others) join McCain in standing by Frederick?
Help us keep an eye out to see if reporters ask state and local Republicans if they stand by these dangerous, hateful remarks. If you see reaction in your local paper, post it in comments or as a quick hit.
PS -- Great reporting by Lowell on this story, earning a hat tip from TPM.
Black GOP leader condemns Frederick (TheGreenMiles - 10/13/2008 12:30:52 PM)
Donald Scoggins calls Frederick's remarks "totally unacceptable," "very much uncalled for," and "very much beyond the pale."
Time to remove him from office (DanG - 10/13/2008 1:39:32 PM)
Who do we have to challenge this guy? The DPVA needs to be actively drafting a top-notch challenger to bring Frederick down. Paging Delegate Moran: I know you're running for Governor, which is cool, but please please PLEASE be sure to keep an eye out for somebody to knock this jackass out.
that he pledged not to run if elected chair of the Virginia Republican Party
yep (jasonVA - 10/13/2008 3:16:20 PM)
I was wondering the same thing. Hasn't he already started waffling on this though?
This has been big national news today. And from the looks of it, Frederick didn't do McCain any favors with his ignorant comment.
Frederick's Reckless Remarks (Mary I - 10/13/2008 7:00:02 PM)
Wasn't the buzz that his wife was going to run for his seat?
heard that too (jasonVA - 10/14/2008 10:45:38 AM)
Yes, I think I heard that floating around a while ago too. I wonder if Jeff gets to keep his new job if the GOP gets completely whipped next month?
When Dave Albo is your moral voice, you're in trouble. (TheGreenMiles - 10/14/2008 9:59:24 AM)
As Lowell points out, a Washington Post editorial today quotes Del. Abuser Fee:
Del. David B. Albo (Fairfax) told us that Mr. Frederick's comments were "ridiculous." "We don't need to make up stuff about Barack Obama," he said. "We can talk about policies to win the election."
