Clinton told 5,000 Obama supporters that "Obama understands, Obama understands [the] economy...Obama understands health care, Obama understands [e]nergy & OBAMA UNDERSTANDS WHAT IS RIGHT FOR AMERICA."
Also, see here for coverage of the Richmond and Roanoke events today. I love this quote by Bill Clinton: "Richmond, cradle of the old Confederacy, with an African-American mayor who was the first elected African-American governor and is going to help elect America's first African-American president."

Former President Bill Clinton told a roaring crowd at Virginia Commonwealth University last night that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is best able to lead the country out of "the badly frayed financial system" that he said Republicans helped create. An hour early for the rally at VCU that attracted an estimated 3,500 people, the former president compared Obama's measured reaction to the crisis with what he considered the seemingly hurried and not well-thought-out reaction of Arizona Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee.
Former President Bill Clinton drew 3,500 people to downtown Roanoke on Sunday in his first Virginia campaign swing for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.Clinton focused his speech on the economy and health care and explained why he supports the Democratic presidential candidate, who has been aggressively campaigning for Virginia's 13 electoral votes. Clinton also stopped in Richmond on Sunday.
Clinton took the stage Sunday at downtown Roanoke's Market Square and began his speech by declaring, "For the first time in 40 years, Virginia will be a Democratic state."
