RK ARCHIVE - Quick Hits on RK

You can see some of our initial entries in the Quick Hit box in the left hand column for ideas. They are a great way to pass along a link or a one (perhaps two) liner about some newsworthy item or even a bit of humor.

To add a Quick Hit there is a link in the menu box (top left of RK) that says "New Quick Hit". Most of you will see that link, but some will not. Which leads me to...

Can anyone post a Quick Hit? No, we've limited it to Trusted Users and above. What does that mean, you ask? Well, when a user first registers for RK they are Untrusted. As you post diaries and/or comments that aren't troll rated you will automatically be moved into the Trusted group. It's a way of verifying that new users are not just trolls or here to dump spam.

So if you do see the "New Quick Hit" link feel free to start using it. If you don't see it, then get to work on bumping up your RK mojo by posting un-trollish comments and User Diaries.

I don't have a link to create a quick hit. I have been here for years (before the 2004 election), and never been troll rated AFAIK. And I do have a link for "hidden comments"...

But if I do pull up the quick hits page, I have a link on all of them to "delete quick hit". Haven't tried it, of course - I imagine that it wouldn't work, but I would think that the link ought not be there for quick hits that other people posted.

I don't see the link, so this means that I have sinned. :P Looking back, it seems that I got the troll rate back in April. Besides that, I mostly get 4 when I am rated. How much longer should I wait to move to Trusted User status?

In the "Menu" box, just below the RK insignia in the left column, "New Quick Hit" is just below "New Diary" and just above "Hidden Comments".

I missed it at first, too. It may be playing games on your eyes.

There aren't a lot of those, largely because people don't use the ratings system much here at RK. Use it more, give people high ratings if you like and more of them will become trusted users....
